Dar propina es una expresión de gratitud económica por el servicio recibido, generalmente en actividades que implican una atención directa a los consumidores como pueden ser restaurantes, bares, servicios turísticos y hoteles, sin embargo, por ley esta debe ser voluntaria y jamás requerida de ninguna forma por los establecimientos de México, como ya lo ha dejado claro en múltiples ocasiones la Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor (Profeco).Desde el organismo público se ha recomendado tomar medidas como revisar cuidadosamente la cuenta y, en caso de que se noten cargos no reconocidos, preguntar de inmediato a los encargados de proporcionar el servicio. Si los consumidores detectan que los lugares a donde acuden incurren en estas prácticas, deberán levantar una denuncia al Teléfono del Consumidor.La Profeco respalda a los consumidores y la Ley Federal de Protección al Consumidor (LFPC) es clara. El artículo 10 de dicho documento señala, entre otras cosas, que los proveedores no podrán aplicar métodos o prácticas comerciales coercitivas y desleales, ni cláusulas o condiciones abusivas o impuestas en el abastecimiento de productos o servicios.¿Pueden obligarme a pagar propina? Cuartoscuro Este artículo también establece que no se podrán prestar servicios adicionales a los originalmente contratados que no hubieren sido solicitados o aceptados expresamente, por escrito o vía electrónica, por el consumidor.A su vez, el artículo 128 refiere que las infracciones a lo dispuesto por el artículo 10 y otros más, serán sancionadas con una multa que oscila entre los $702.07 y los $2,746,903.07. Mientras que en casos particularmente graves, la Profeco podrá sancionar con clausura total o parcial de hasta 90 días e imponer una multa de $146,620.98 a $4,105,387.31.Los casos coonsiderados como particularmente graves incluyen que la infracción pudiera poner en peligro la vida, la salud o la seguridad de un grupo de consumidores, las conductas que se cometan aprovechando la escasez, lejanía o dificultad en el abastecimiento de un bien o en la prestación de un servicio y la reincidencia en la comisión de infracciones a los artículos señalados en el artículo 128 de la LFPC.Como lo establece la Profeco, quienes exijan el pago de propina pueden hacerse acreedores a sanciones económicas. "El monto de las multas varía según la gravedad, reincidencia y afectación, aplicándose por prácticas como cobros indebidos de propina, comisiones por pago con tarjeta o publicidad engañosa", se lee en un artículo compartido por el organismo gubernamental.Para levantar una denuncia es necesario solicitar y conservar el comprobante de pago, puesto que es necesario para cualquier reclamo. La Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) informó que tiene previsto realizar una suspensión temporal del servicio eléctrico durante el próximo martes 25 de agosto, la cual, durará alrededor de 14 horas y afectará a los habitantes de todo un municipio perteneciente a un estado de la región oriente del país, por ello, en esta nota te diremos todo lo que hay que saber en torno a esta drástica medida, la cual, tiene como objetivo garantizar la continuidad y la calidad del servicio eléctrico.De acuerdo con la información difundida por la Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), el corte temporal de energía que llevará a cabo el próximo martes 25 de agosto por trabajos de mantenimiento dejará sin luz a los usuarios de un municipio de la zona centro del estado de Veracruz y, como de mencionó antes, estas acciones tienen como objetivo mantener en óptimas condiciones la infraestructura eléctrica para así originar una mayor confiabilidad del servicio en beneficio de la población de la referida región. Foto: CFE Nacional  Este es el municipio de Veracruz que se quedará sin luz durante 14 horas el martes 25 de agosto por trabajos de mantenimiento de la CFEEn el comunicado difundido por la Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) se precisó que, los trabajos de mantenimiento que tiene previstos en la infraestructura eléctrica se llevarán a cabo de las 4:00 a las 18:00 horas del martes 25 de agosto, asimismo, se precisó que debido a dichas acciones se quedará sin luz todo el municipio de Tlalixcoyan, Veracruz.“Informamos a la ciudadanía que el próximo martes 25 de agosto se realizará una suspensión temporal del servicio de energía eléctrica en todo el municipio de Tlalixcoyan, debido al cambio de un transformador de potencia en la Subestación Piedras Negras (PNS). El corte está programado de 4:00 a.m. a 6:00 p.m.”, informaron las autoridades del referido municipio veracruzano. Las autoridades de Tlalixcoyan hicieron un llamado a toda la población para que tomen las previsiones necesarias y así evitar afectaciones por este corte de energía. HERMOSILLO, Mexico -- At daybreak, rancher Martín Alfonso Ibarra takes advantage of the cooler hours in northern Mexico’s desert to oversee the milking of his cows and tend to 16 prized calves. Soon, he hopes, they will be headed north to the United States as a yearlong ban on Mexican cattle imports comes to an end.The ban, imposed over concerns about a flesh-eating parasite known as the New World screwworm fly, dealt a blow to cattle and beef industries on both sides of the border, exacerbating a livestock shortage in the U.S. and hurting a Mexican ranching sector already weakened by drought and a cattle export business that generated $1.2 billion for Mexico last year.Now, the U.S. is set to resume livestock imports from Mexico beginning Aug. 24 at the Douglas, Arizona, border crossing, which borders Agua Prieta in Mexico’s Sonora state. If the reopening goes smoothly, the U.S. Department of Agriculture could allow imports through additional ports, though shipments will initially be subject to restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of the parasite — which has already crossed the border, with authorities battling cases in Texas and New Mexico.The screwworm gets its name from the maggots’ habit of burrowing — or screwing — into a wound, according to the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. Any warm-blooded animal, including wildlife, pets and occasionally even humans, can be infested.In Mexico, the screwworm outbreak was detected in November 2024 and has spread to 30 of the 32 states — most recently in Sonora, where the first case was reported Wednesday in the community of Munihuasa, near the borders with Chihuahua and Sinaloa, states where infections have also proliferated.To date, Mexico has 1,969 active screwworm cases, which represent less than half of the infections reported a year ago, a decline that authorities say shows progress in containing the outbreak. Still, they acknowledge eradication will take time.Against that backdrop, Ibarra and thousands of other ranchers in the northern state of Sonora are preparing to resume live cattle exports. But optimism is tempered by new U.S. controls expected to slow shipments across the border.“This is not over yet,” said the 58-year-old rancher, adding that the export halt cut his income by 40% last year.According to the protocol defined by U.S. authorities, in the first week of reopening, only 700 cattle per day will be allowed through; this will rise to 900 in the second week and will gradually increase until reaching 1,300 cattle per day, veterinarian Arturo Ruiz, responsible for animal health for the state of Sonora, told The Associated Press.The new rules also require cattle to be fitted with radio-frequency identification tags in their ears and screened by electronic readers and trained dogs.
