Mom Faces Horrific Charges for Allegedly Using Bear Spray on Kids

Mother Arrested for Allegedly Using Bear Spray on Children An Alabama woman, Christie Lashay Williams, was arrested after being accused of spraying her children with bear spray. The incident allegedly occurred in March in Leeds. Williams was charged with torture and willful abuse of a child who is a family member. She was taken into custody on April 6 according to Jefferson County jail records. Incident Details The police were alerted on March 8 about a young girl crying for help in Leeds, which is near Birmingham. Officers discovered the children had been sprayed with bear spray by their mother, according to law enforcement reports. The children were transported to Children's of Alabama hospital for treatment. Police found the spray allegedly used during a search of Williams’ home. Dangers of Bear Spray Bear spray contains red pepper oil intended to protect against aggressive bears. It can cause severe irritation and breathing issues in humans. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game advises treating it like a firearm due to its potential hazards. Bear spray can travel at over 70 mph, posing risks if inhaled or if it contacts the skin or eyes. The agency recommends immediate measures such as fresh air and medical assistance if exposed. Williams posted bail shortly after her arrest, with the bond set at $15,000. Authorities continue to investigate the case. Taylor Frankie Paul Accused of Character Assassination by Dakota Mortensen Team

Taylor Frankie Paul Accused of Character Assassination by Dakota Mortensen Team

Dakota Mortensen and Taylor Frankie Paul appeared in court as part of a custody battle over their son. Mortensen's attorney criticized Paul's claims about Mortensen's parenting as the case continues. Court Appearance Paul and Mortensen attended a virtual hearing on April 7 concerning visitation rights after Mortensen was granted temporary custody of their 2-year-old, Ever. The judge allowed Paul supervised visits for eight hours weekly until an upcoming hearing on April 30 to reassess her visitation conditions. The court decided that a neutral third party would supervise these visits, with room for alternative arrangements if agreed upon by both parties. Protection Orders Filed Paul recently filed a temporary protection order against Mortensen, who had previously secured one against her when he obtained custody of Ever in March. Paul claimed Mortensen's behavior had become more possessive leading up to the planned airing of her Bachelorette season, which ABC later canceled. In her filing, Paul mentioned that Mortensen tattooed her initials inside his mouth, calling it alarming given their non-relationship status and past issues between them. Past Incidents and Legal Issues The pair's relationship struggles have been documented on Hulu's The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, paused after an alleged domestic dispute. Paul is on probation for a separate incident involving Mortensen, where she pleaded guilty to aggravated assault under a plea deal dismissing other charges. An altercation in leaked footage reportedly showed Paul throwing chairs at Mortensen, one hitting her daughter. ABC subsequently canceled her Bachelorette season. According to a spokesperson, Paul is focusing on family safety while deciding on future actions and sharing her story.

Michigan Woman Accused of Holding Sister-in-Law Captive for Years

A Michigan woman has been arrested for allegedly holding her sister-in-law captive in a basement for about two years. The incident was uncovered after the victim escaped and sought help at a neighbor's home. Discovery of Captivity The situation came to light on March 15 when the 58-year-old victim broke a window at a neighbor’s house in Saginaw, Michigan, and asked for assistance. The resident called 911, leading police to the location where she had been held. Officers found the victim in poor condition, noting severe malnourishment. She reported being locked in the basement with little food or water. The living conditions included a mattress on the floor and a bucket used as a toilet. Legal Proceedings Tasha Beamon, 48, who served as her caretaker, was arrested and charged with unlawful imprisonment and first-degree vulnerable adult abuse. She is detained on a $100,000 bond at Saginaw County Jail. Beamon's court hearings are set for April 13 and April 20. It's not clear if she has entered a plea or secured legal representation. Police Response and Investigation Saginaw Police Chief Bob Ruth praised the officers' work in solving this case. He highlighted their efforts to bring formal charges based on the victim's testimony and evidence. The investigation revealed that Beamon allegedly kept the victim confined and neglected her basic needs. Following her rescue, medical professionals evaluated the woman as a vulnerable adult, leading to her hospitalization. The Saginaw Police Department did not immediately provide additional comments on the ongoing investigation.
