Christine McGuinness Embraces New Comfort After Letting Go of Fitness Obsession
Christine McGuinness has fronted a new campaign with sensory-friendly lingerie line Being Wear that's been designed with neurodivergent people in mind.The TV personality, 38, looked incredible as she modelled the range, explaining it was a cause close to her heart due to her and her three children being diagnosed with autism. Christine was the picture of confidence in the snaps, and explained she had learned to become more comfortable in herself with age, and was putting less pressure on herself to push herself physically. She exclusively told the Daily Mail: 'I do enjoy going to the gym but I'm not like a fitness fanatic like I used to be. I think I probably was borderline obsessed at one point. 'Whereas now, I think I've been feeling a lot on my body as we do with women as we're getting older. 'Late 30s, everyone warns you, your body does change and you do start feeling more tired and you can't do as much as you used to. But it hasn't made me want to push myself anymore. I'm trying to stay relaxed, stay comfortable, and keep the pressure off. I think I probably was borderline obsessed at one point'Christine continued: 'It's summer, my kids are off school and they're at an age now where they're remembering things and they're enjoying different experiences.'It's hard to be excited when your children don't like change, but now they're just a lot more comfortable in themselves and I am too.' On learning to become confident with herself, Christine shared: 'It's an ongoing battle. 'I'm pretty sure I drive everyone around me insane, because I'll have these moments of going, "do you know what? I'm just going to go and live the best life. "This is my turn. I'm divorced. My three amazing, incredible children are growing up and they're understanding a lot more." So I'm able to, if I wanted to, go for a night out or go on a date or whatever.'I think it's not about [projecting] confidence, it's just sort of being comfortable with myself, just being me. 'I used to worry about being photographed. It was never so much about how I looked it would be, what if somebody thinks my outfit's a bit rubbish, or I'm not on trend or something like that. 'Whereas now I'm just not bothered. I'm more about being comfortable. 'I think as my children have got older I've thought more about stuff I went through when I was younger, obviously being undiagnosed and throughout my school years, struggling with sensory issues, struggling in the canteen with the food, struggling with communication to make friends and I didn't get it. 'And now I'm watching my children go through similar experiences. And it's made me change so much of my mindset in teaching them that other people's thoughts and opinions don't really matter. 'Don't let it consume your brain, especially when you're young. It's not worth it. 'I'm quite happy just being me, which is what Being Wear is all about. It is just being comfortable as being yourself, whatever you're wearing underneath.' She explained: 'I'm sure there's hundreds of thousands of families across the UK that are in this situation, where it's the countdown of it might feel like they're still babies, but they're growing up and we've got to prepare in a different way. 'And I'm not really sure what the options are myself.'But there's also so much more out there than just autism and ADHD, there's so many different conditions that could do with a light being shone on them. 'Everyone calls it a spectrum because it is a spectrum. There's so many different little arms and branches that come out that that aren't discussed as much.
