Macklemore's Bold Move: Donates $1 Million for Palestinian Causes After Tour Drama New

Macklemore's Bold Move: Donates $1 Million for Palestinian Causes After Tour Drama

Updated 22:49 16 Sep 2026 GMT+1Published 22:47 16 Sep 2026 GMT+1The US rapper has challenged Robert Kraft to match his $1 million donationMacklemore has announced that he will be donating the $1 million he made from the Ed Sheeran tour to organisations supporting Palestinian people. Macklemore had been on Sheeran’s Loop Tour until earlier this week when it was announced that he’d been dropped from the remaining date after he called to ‘free Palestine’ while on stage. In a statement shared on Monday (14 September), the US rapper said he was ditched after Gillette Stadium and Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft gave Sheeran an ‘ultimatum’. Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, said: “Ed was in a ****** up position. He knew it. His typical apolitical stance was being challenged in a way it never had been before. Advert“He told me that the words 'Free Palestine' and the image of the Palestinian flag were hurtful to a lot of people he spoke with. I told him that if those words were more offensive than tens of thousands of Palestinian children being killed by Israel, then there was a fundamental disconnect between where those people stood and where I stood. But he couldn’t get past his public facing: I don’t take sides.’”Macklemore said Ed Sheeran was given an 'ultimatium' (Ethan Miller/Getty Images for iHeartMedia)Sheeran then shared his own statement in which he said that the decision to remove Macklemore had been down to the tour’s promoters and not him. In a fresh update, Macklemore has revealed that he’ll be putting his money where his mouth is and donating his earnings from the tour to several causes. "With everything that has happened over the last 48 hours, I want to bring the conversation back to where it belongs: to the Palestinian people who are still being killed, still living under military occupation, and still fighting for their freedom," Macklemore wrote in a post on Instagram. He said that he’ll be giving away his net earnings from the Loop Tour to six organisations that are ‘working directly to support’ people in Palestine: Palestine Children's Relief Fund, HEAL Palestine, Gaza Soup Kitchen, Medical Aid for Palestinians, UNRWA USA National Committee and Anera. He continued: "I invite Robert Kraft to match my donation. Whatever we disagree about, perhaps we can agree on this: Palestinian lives are worth protecting. "A Palestinian life is no less valuable than any other life on this earth. That is what this has always been about. Not me. Not a tour. Not the headlines or the controversy. It is about Palestinians' right to freedom, dignity and safety in their own homeland."He concluded his statement: “When the news cycle moves on, which it will, don’t move with it. Free Palestine.”Macklemore’s gesture comes after Sheeran’s tour has been left in chaos after all of its support acts pulled out. Irish singer Aaron Rowe, who was featuring on the North American leg of performances, was the first to announce he was quitting the tour yesterday (Tuesday 15 September). This was swiftly followed by Finneas who also announced he wouldn’t be taking part in the tour, telling his fans: “Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed.“I have decided to withdraw from my upcoming tour dates with Ed Sheeran. I stand with Palestine and its people.”And the walkouts didn’t end there, Irish band Beoga also shared a statement saying they’d no longer be taking part and Danish pop band Lukas Graham confirmed it would be exiting the tour just moments after Finneas made his announcement.Amid the ongoing media storm surrounding the matter, Sheeran has lost around 100,000 Instagram followers, while Macklemore has seen his follower count grow by almost a million. Outrage Erupts After Officer Shoots Beloved Baby Donkey HeeHaw New

Outrage Erupts After Officer Shoots Beloved Baby Donkey HeeHaw

Published 20:00 16 Sep 2026 GMT+1HeeHaw's owner claims the officer entered the enclosed pasture without permission or a warrantThe owner of a baby donkey named HeeHaw has filed a lawsuit against the police officer who shot the animal, who she said 'posed no threat' to him.HeeHaw was killed after officers entered a pasture at the Elsberry Riding and Farm ranch in Rockmart, Georgia, on August 29 as they searched for a missing 12-year-old girl.An incident report seen by the New York Post stated Cedartown Police Department officer Trenton Garner, who joined the force in 2023, fired one round at HeeHaw.During their search for the missing girl, officers entered the petting zoo area and encountered horses, who ran across the pasture after becoming spooked by their presence.AdvertGarner said in the incident report that a donkey was pointed out on the side of a hill, which is when HeeHaw allegedly began moving towards the police officer.K-9 Handler Thomasson reportedly drew a taser at the donkey, but that failed to stop him.Garner said he then fired a gunshot, hitting HeeHaw in the process.Hannah Israel, the owner of the donkey, has since filed a lawsuit against Garner in the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia's Rome Division. The officer, who remains on administrative leave, is being sued as an individual.HeeHaw was fatally shot last month (GoFundMe)The City of Cedartown and the Cedartown Police Department are not named as defendants in the case.Israel alleges that Garner entered the enclosed pasture without permission or a warrant. Her lawsuit claims that the police officer's decision to fatally shoot HeeHaw violated Israel's constitutional rights and describes the animal as 'a young, small, and tranquil donkey who posed no threat to Defendant Trenton Ryan Garner or any other officer or any K-9 or bloodhound accompanying the officers'.It alleges shooting HeeHaw was 'objectively unreasonable under the circumstances', and that Garner left the property after shooting the donkey without telling Israel the animal had been killed.Israel says she only found out about HeeHaw's death when a supervisor from the Cedartown Police Department called her later, 'tersely' telling her HeeHaw had been 'dispatched', leaving her and a 'minor child' to search for the donkey's body.HeeHaw was described as a small, tranquil donkey (GoFundMe)These claims contradict the account outlined by Garner in the incident report.Israel's lawsuit raises three claims under federal civil rights law which are: unlawful entry and search, unreasonable seizure and destruction of property, and deprivation of property without due process.Israel has also stated she's suffered financial loss, emotional distress and mental anguish as a result of her loss, and she's seeking compensatory and punitive damages.Shortly after HeeHaw died, Israel shared footage of the adorable donkey just days before the incident, which saw her pet walking towards her and affectionately rubbing his head against her."Hi, HeeHaw," Israel could be heard saying in the clip. "How are you? Good morning. Good morning, HeeHaw."She then called him 'baby', as the donkey enjoyed the fuss.Israel previously said that the family was left 'very traumatized and shocked' after losing HeeHaw."Cops entered my pasture searching for a missing person WITHOUT permission or warning and shot and killed my bottle raised BABY donkey," she said."HeeHaw was raised in the house and did petting zoos he never knew a stranger."UNILAD has contacted the Georgia Department of Agriculture Law Enforcement Division, who are investigating the shooting of HeeHaw, for a comment.Featured Image Credit: Elsberry Riding and FarmTopics: Animals, US News

Ed Sheeran Fans Demand Refunds After Macklemore's 'Free Palestine' Speech Fallout New

Ed Sheeran Fans Demand Refunds After Macklemore's 'Free Palestine' Speech Fallout

Ed Sheeran’s fans are demanding to be refunded for their concert tickets after Macklemore was fired from the former’s stadium tour for his “Free Palestine” speech. One fan wrote on X this week, “Hey @Ticketmaster so @edsheeran is no longer having @macklemore on his tour we purchased these tickets when @macklemore was on the setlist and we would like to cancel our tickets for a full refund please and you can sell them to someone else! Thanks :).”Meanwhile, someone else tweeted at X’s AI Chatbot, Grok, and asked, “Will Ticketmaster give me a refund for my Ed Sheeran tickets since all of his other opening acts dropped out in solidarity with Macklemore […]?”Some of Ed Sheeran’s fans are demanding a refund for their concert tickets after Macklemore was dropped from the tour (Sheeran and Macklemore are seen here at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards). Kevin Mazur/WireImage for MTVMany took to social media to make their demands.Another X account tagged Ticketmaster and asked the company, “[…] Are you also offering refunds for people who don’t want to go to a concert where an artist was kicked off a tour for speaking their mind?“Because it’s only fair. But my guess is that you’re not gonna do that, huh?” the account added.A fourth user called on anyone who has tickets to Sheeran’s shows to ask for their money back.Meanwhile, another account said that instead of asking for a refund, Sheeran’s fans with tickets already “should simply not go” to the tour.Macklemore (seen here with Sheeran at the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Festival) was dropped from Sheeran’s The Loop Tour for his recent “Free Palestine” speech. Theo WargoMacklemore showed support for Palestine at a recent New Jersey concert.“Empty seats will impact his tour a lot more than resold tickets,” the tweet read. “It’ll affect merch sales and venue profits too. Keep the tickets, don’t attend.”A different account claimed there’s been “a surge” in Sheeran’s tickets being put up for resale after Macklemore’s removal.Page Six has reached out to Sheeran’s rep and Ticketmaster for comment.Macklemore, 43, was dropped from Sheeran’s The Loop Tour after several venues notified the tour’s promoter that they would not allow him to perform after he yelled “Free Palestine” onstage at a recent show in New Jersey.Macklemore (seen here performing in Ireland in June 2025) placed blame on Sheeran for his firing. He further claimed that Sheeran told him that the words “Free Palestine” and the image of the Palestinian flag “were hurtful to a lot of people he spoke with.”“I told him that if those words were more offensive than tens of thousands of Palestinian children being killed by Israel, then there was a fundamental disconnect between where those people stood and where I stood,” he alleged. “But he couldn’t get past his public facing, ‘I don’t take sides.’”Macklemore claimed Sheeran (both seen above) told him that the words “Free Palestine” “were hurtful to a lot of people he spoke with.” / SplashNews.comSheeran (seen here at Jingle Ball 2025) claimed Macklemore’s firing “was the promoter’s decision, not mine.” David Fisher/for Global / ShutterstockSheeran, for his part, claimed in a post on Tuesday that Macklemore’s firing “was the promoter’s decision, not mine.”The “Thinking Out Loud” singer said that because of “how Macklemore conveyed part of his message during his performance” at their NJ shows, Sheeran learned from venues that future shows would be pulled if Macklemore wasn’t dropped.Sheeran insisted he tried to “build a bridge” between the two sides — including by talking to Kraft, 85 — but was ultimately unsuccessful.“Macklemore’s contract for the tour was with the promoter, not me,” Sheeran wrote. “I would never let down the fans who had made plans, nor would I abandon the touring crew and the other support acts and musicians who rely on me for work and to make a living.”Sheeran and Macklemore (seen here) have been friends for over a decade. Kevin WinterSome of Sheeran’s opening acts, including Finneas and Lukas Graham, have dropped out of the tour in support of Macklemore. Kevin MazurGetty Images for iHeartRadioKraft said in a statement to Page Six that Macklemore was banned from performing at Gillette Stadium because the venue doesn’t “provide a platform for hate speech.”“Based on Macklemore’s recent actions, material shared from the stage during Ed Sheeran’s shows in New Jersey, and a broader history of antisemitic rhetoric and imagery that we believe has been deeply offensive and hurtful to the Jewish community, we determined that his participation in the September 25th and 26th concerts at Gillette Stadium would cross that line,” Kraft stated.Following Sheeran’s statement on Tuesday, his opening acts Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Beoga all dropped out of the tour in support of Macklemore.Sheeran has ten shows remaining on the North American leg of his tour, which wraps up in December.
