The Crime That Shocked Tirana: What Did Armand Shakaj's Phone Reveal? New

The Crime That Shocked Tirana: What Did Armand Shakaj's Phone Reveal?

/A2 CNN

NATO's Unexpected Move: What Does It Mean for Kosovo? New

NATO's Unexpected Move: What Does It Mean for Kosovo?

Trump's Bold Border Move: What's Behind the Zero Release Strategy? New

Trump's Bold Border Move: What's Behind the Zero Release Strategy?

The Trump administration has delivered a historic number of zero catch-and-releases at the border in the last year, the Daily Caller learned Friday.Following the surge in illegal entries during the Biden administration, Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have cracked down on border crossings, releasing zero illegals encountered at the border in the last 13 months. The figures from May 2026 alone draw a stark contrast to the prior Biden administration’s policies: Southwest border apprehensions were down 94 percent from the monthly average under Biden. The total border apprehensions during the 2026 fiscal year through May are 26 percent lower than the average for any single month from 1992 through 2024. (RELATED: We Reported Migrants Getting Leftist DA’s Free Legal Help. His Office Stopped Recording Their Cases)Nearly 800 pounds of fentanyl were seized at the border in May alone. CBP captured an average of 37,033 pounds of marijuana per month for the last four months — 61 percent higher than the average during Biden’s fiscal year 2024.Total drug seizures by the CBP were 56 percent higher this fiscal year than the same period in 2024.Border enforcement officials under Biden let in roughly 10.3 million illegal immigrants into the country from 2021 to 2024, according to Republican Homeland Security estimates.“Thirteen straight months of ZERO releases at the border. Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, we are delivering the most secure border in American history,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said. “The days of catch and release are over. We are enforcing the nation’s laws and quickly sending illegal aliens back to their home countries, ensuring the safety and sovereignty of our nation.”“Our robust enforcement policies are working,” CBP Commissioner Rodney S. Scott said in a press release. “[W]e are delivering unprecedented results in border security, drug interdiction, and trade enforcement.” On June 8, Border Patrol assisted Maverick County Sheriff’s Office in a traffic stop for Miguel Francisco Hernandez-Jimenez, an illegal alien from Mexico, who was smuggling humans inside a HVAC system in his truck bed. Dara Levitan Breaks Silence on Emotional Split: 'No Way to Avoid Tears' New

Dara Levitan Breaks Silence on Emotional Split: 'No Way to Avoid Tears'

Summer House's Dara Levitan is single but maybe not ready to mingle after her split from costar KJ Dillard. “Do you want to know what's setting me off? Well, I’m single,” Dara, 33, shared on the Thursday, June 18, episode of her “Five More Minutes” podcast via Bravo and Cocktails. “That’s all we’re going to say about it because I can’t do tears this morning, and there’s no way I’m talking about it without crying.” KJ, 28, and Dara’s romance began in summer 2025 while filming season 10 of the Bravo reality show. The pair met through mutual friend and castmate West Wilson. Before the pair confirmed their breakup in their own words, costar Jesse Solomon accidentally spilled the beans on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen earlier this month. “They broke up, yeah,” Jesse, 33, said on the June 9 episode after being asked why KJ and Dara unfollowed each other on social media. “Last I heard, they were broken up. Sorry if that’s not public.” In her latest podcast episode with cohost Carly Rivlin, Dara discussed dating alongside guest and skincare expert Sean Garrette. While Dara acknowledged that she has “no idea what I’m doing when it comes to men and love,” the Bravo star sounded off on dating apps and trends in time for summer. When asked about hooking up with or without makeup on, Dara joked that it’s been a minute since she’s had to choose. “It’s been a long time since I’ve had any kind of casual hookup so let’s circle back in 90 days and see where we’re at to see if I’m talking to a man,” she said. Dara added, “I love them against my will, but I don’t like them.” Summer House viewers had a front-row seat to Dara and KJ’s love story, which included a few ups and downs. While appearing on the June 2 episode of the “More Life With Carl Radke” podcast, KJ revealed that he and Dara took a brief break after Summer House season 10 wrapped filming while he was experiencing mental health struggles. (KJ was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder late last year after being hospitalized for self-harm.) He explained that Dara “broke up” with him “because she had to.” “Dara, I think, was gonna hang on … but that wouldn’t have been good for either of us,” KJ said. “I needed the time, because after the hospital, I went to recovery … and that’s when we broke up. Looking back, if me and Dara were dating when I was in recovery, it would have been a mess. I would have been focused on saving the relationship rather than focusing on my health. Recovery changed my life.” Summer House is streaming now on Peacock. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org.

Supreme Court's Stunning 9-0 Decision Sends Shockwaves Through Gun Law Debate New

Supreme Court's Stunning 9-0 Decision Sends Shockwaves Through Gun Law Debate

The attorney who secured a Supreme Court win paring back gun laws affecting marijuana users told the Daily Caller News Foundation Thursday the decision could signal how the justices plan to incorporate New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen into its future related decisions. The Supreme Court ruled Thursday in Hemani v. United States that a regular marijuana user could not be prosecuted under 18 USC 922(g)(3), in a 9-0 decision authored by Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch on Second Amendment grounds. Zachary Newland, the attorney whose firm represented Ali Hemani, said the high court’s decision reversed an apparent weakening of Bruen resulting from Rahimi v. United States, when it upheld the conviction of Zackey Rahimi for possessing a firearm while under a domestic violence restraining order. (RELATED: Liberal Justices Join Unanimous SCOTUS Ruling Favoring Pro-Gun Groups — But They Couldn’t Leave Well Enough Alone)“I think it breathed some new life back into Bruen because after Bruen and more importantly after Rahimi a couple of years ago, I think there was a general sense among the bar that maybe the court wasn’t as committed to the principles enounced in Bruen,” Newland said. “Maybe they weren’t as committed to some of the results, which policy-wise ripple. But here, I think you really see a retrenchment of a majority that is invested in the Bruen framework.” In a 9-0 Opinion, the Supreme Court has thrown out the 922(g)(3) conviction of an individual convicted of possessing a firearm while being an unlawful user of drugs. Two years later, Thomas was the lone dissent in the Rahimi case, when the high court upheld the conviction of a man charged with possessing a firearm while under a restraining order.Newland told the DCNF his firm took up the case after the district court initially ruled in Hemani’s favor, adding that he felt the law Hemani was charged with breaking, 18 USC 922(g)(3), which prohibits those who use controlled substances including marijuana from owning firearms, could be targeted on Second Amendment grounds.“I knew this statute, candidly, from the Hunter Biden prosecution,” Newland told the DCNF. “I wasn’t involved in that defense, but I was familiar with it and I thought, you know, just on first blush that it looks susceptible to challenge. I think it’s very broad and I think it doesn’t provide much due process legal protection for folks before potentially being stripped of your Second Amendment rights and facing 15 years in federal prison.”Biden was pardoned by his father, then-President Joe Biden, on Dec. 1, 2024, after he was convicted by a federal jury in Delaware for illegally possessing a Colt revolver while using drugs. In the case of Hemani, Newland said a crucial decision was how to challenge the law.“We made sure that we brought an as-applied challenge rather than a facial challenge, meaning an as-applied challenge is a challenge saying that the law is unlawful as applied to my client versus a facial challenge, which says it’s unlawful in every instance,” Newland said. “So that’s one, you narrow the target there, right? And in some ways, you put it on the government rather than putting it on you.”Newland also said that in this case, he also benefitted from the fact that the Hemani case had “better facts” than the Rahimi case decided in June 2024. (RELATED: Second Amendment Groups Target Purple State’s Decades-Long ‘Permission Slip’ Scheme With New Lawsuit)“The government was making much broader arguments here than they were in Rahimi and in Rahimi, it’s bad facts when you have that, and bad facts make bad laws sometimes,” Newland said.Rahimi had been involved in five shootings across December 2020 and January 2021, according to a ruling by the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, which overturned his conviction on Second Amendment grounds before the Supreme Court reversed it. Newland expressed hope for the chance to take another case to the high court.“I’m a big believer in individual liberties, and I’m a pretty big skeptic of government power in general, so I would love to be involved in more of those things and it’s something that I think is important and that not enough people take seriously enough,” Newland told the DCNF. “Whether or not you agree with the policy concerns of current modern day law, I’m a big believer in the Constitution says what it says.”All content created by the Daily Caller News Foundation, an independent and nonpartisan newswire service, is available without charge to any legitimate news publisher that can provide a large audience. What Drove JD Vance to Decide on Baby No. 4 After a Tragic Loss?

Vice President JD Vance revealed the emotional story behind the decision to have a fourth baby following Charlie Kirk’s assassination. While discussing a passage from his new book, “Communion,” during an interview with The Blaze’s Allie Beth Stuckey, Vance revealed the exact moment he found out his wife, Usha Vance, was pregnant and reflected on the years-long conversations the couple had about expanding their family.“So this has been an ongoing conversation as it has with all families with a lot of kids. And you know I remember when we had our first kid, and you go from 0 to 1, and I was like, I am never doing this again. It was such a shock to the system; it was crazy. And I think our oldest was a little bit tougher as a baby. And then we had number two and number three, and now I am like, I want to have nine kids.” (RELATED: Vance Warns Israel It Can’t Kill Its Way Out Of Every Conflict)Vance, a devout Catholic, joked that “it takes two to tango,” explaining that the decision was ultimately up to both parents. He said the now-40-year-old Second Lady had concerns about another pregnancy, particularly as it becomes more physically demanding with age and under intense public scrutiny.According to Vance, Usha Vance had expressed that while she would love to have a fourth child, she was uncertain about going through another pregnancy in the spotlight.“And it’s been an ongoing conversation for a couple of years.” JD Vance deals with the White House press corps: pic.twitter.com/QTkxHgiZ0Y — Reagan Reese (@reaganreese_) June 18, 2026The Vice President told Stuckey he would never forget the timing of the discussion that ultimately changed his mind, noting that Charlie Kirk was assassinated the day before Sept. 11. Vance had been scheduled to travel to New York City for a 9/11 memorial event, but instead flew to Utah on the morning of Sept. 11 to retrieve Kirk’s body and accompany Erika Kirk and the family back to Arizona.Reflecting on that trip, Vance said one moment in particular stayed with him.He recalled seeing Kirk’s widow and feeling at a loss for words.“What could possibly be said? You want to say something profound; there is nothing to say.” (RELATED: Vance Fires Back At Israeli Cabinet Members Targeting Trump Over Iran Deal)Vance said he has noticed an “oscillation” in grieving people between overwhelming sadness and moments when they begin sharing cherished memories.“We talked with Erika for a while, of course about Charlie, and then she makes the observation through her tears that she wishes they would have had more kids,” noting Kirk’s children had stayed with them many times.“For me at least that’s what really drove it home. I don’t know if it had the same effect on Usha, but Usha’s much more analytical about this stuff and was getting there in her own way, but for me it was like we have to have a fourth baby and she got pregnant like six weeks later.”Stuckey later asked whether Vance remembered the exact moment he learned Usha was pregnant. And that was how Usha told me, and yeah, I remember I was so excited.”The vice president’s remarks offered a deeply personal glimpse into how a tragedy that profoundly affected his family also shaped one of the most significant decisions of his life.

Netanyahu's Secret Plan to Sway U.S. Iran Deal Raises Eyebrows

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly believes that he can influence the U.S. negotiations with Iran using pro-Israel commentators and lawmakers, CNN reported.Netanyahu is planning to pro-Israel podcaster Mark Levin to influence the negotiations surrounding the final Iran deal that is supposed to be completed in 60 days, CNN reported, citing an unnamed Israeli source, along with other media figures. The Israeli prime minister believes he can accomplish this despite President Donald Trump signing the memorandum of understanding with the Iranian government at the Palace of Versailles in France on Wednesday, according to a video posted by French President Emmanuel Macron on X. This proposed deal could fall through if Israel continues to strike Lebanon as it did on Thursday, when it killed 18 people with airstrikes in southern Lebanon, Al Jazeera reported.‘Adults Are Talking’Israel’s most recent strikes in Lebanon on Thursday may come to an end, as Hezbollah and the Israeli government have agreed to a ceasefire at 4 p.m. local time, Reuters reported, citing a senior U.S. official. However, past ceasefires between Lebanon and Israel had not been long-lived.Trump has announced ceasefires between Israel and Lebanon that went nowhere in the past.“I just had excellent conversations with the Highly Respected President Joseph Aoun, of Lebanon, and Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel. These two Leaders have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries,” Trump said in a Truth Social post on April 16.The April 16 ceasefire was only eight days after Operation Eternal Darkness, which saw the Israeli Defense Forces kill 361 people and injure over 1,000 people in a single day on April 8, the BBC reported, citing Lebanese authorities.Only four days after the April 16 ceasefire, Israel was back at it on April 20, launching airstrikes into Lebanon, The Associated Press reported. This picture, taken from a position in the Upper Galilee in northern Israel, near the Israel-Lebanon border, shows Israeli Merkava tanks driving along a road past destroyed buildings in southern Lebanon on June 17, 2026. (Photo by JACK GUEZ / AFP via Getty Images)Conservative commentator and Daily Caller News Foundation co-founder Tucker Carlson pointed out that Israel was not involved in the U.S. peace talks with Iran.“As of right now, we were waging a war with Israel, and we just reached the outline of a peace agreement with the country we are fighting with Israel, without consulting Israel. We sent them a copy,” Carlson said on Wednesday on the Tucker Carlson Show. “That’s exactly what that means. Shh! Adults are talking. That’s exactly what Trump is saying to Israel.”“Then he [Trump] goes on to say, ‘Yeah, I mean, I think what they’re doing in, and I understand you got to defend yourself and everything, but like it’s brutal what they’re doing. It’s brutal what they’re doing in Beirut, in Lebanon, blowing up apartment buildings,'” Carlson said, paraphrasing statements from Trump.Trump’s real statement was less poignant, but carried the same message.“You can do a little softer touch, Bibi,” Trump said at the G7 summit on Wednesday. “You don’t have to knock down a building every time somebody walks into it that’s from Hezbollah.”“I’m saying, when two drones are shot into the desert and dropped harmlessly, you don’t have to knock down buildings in Beirut. They could behave better,” Trump said at the summit. “But they could do a much better job with Hezbollah. On that, I don’t think they’re doing well, and I feel very bad for Lebanon.”Trump was not alone in his criticism of Israel. Vice President J.D. Vance has also said that Israel should be more considerate of the U.S., who he said was Israel’s only ally in the world.“Donald J. Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time, and he happens to be the head of state of the world’s superpower,” Vance said during a White House press briefing on Thursday. “If I was in the cabinet of the Israeli government, I might not be attacking the only powerful ally that I have anywhere left in the entire world.”All content created by the Daily Caller News Foundation, an independent and nonpartisan newswire service, is available without charge to any legitimate news publisher that can provide a large audience. RFK Jr.'s Wild Pool Party Stunt: What Really Happened? New

RFK Jr.'s Wild Pool Party Stunt: What Really Happened?

(Screenshot/RFK Jr./X)We all know RFK Jr. is a bit of an odd duck.Leaving aside his views on vaccines and whatnot, he’s obsessed with snakes, at one point believed he was suffering from brainworm, and staged a photo op with a dead bear. He also has a magnetic, Rasputin-esque charm with the ladies. During his confirmation process, I distinctly remember women cooing over his old pictures that resurfaced on social media. We now have a new RFK Jr. anecdote to add to our collection of hilarious oddities: the time he tossed a live snake into a pool as kids were swimming in it.Kerry Kennedy, his sister, shared the (unverified) details in a recent CNN interview.Twenty-five years ago, Kerry decided to host a birthday pool party for her daughter. She noticed a snake in the garden, however, and made the mistake of asking her brother for help.Of course, RFK Jr., the serpent specialist that he is, “rushed over” once he got wind. (If you have any doubts about his snake wrangling expertise, watch him handle two at Dr. Oz’s home in Florida. It’s a great video, and you can hear his wife, actress Cheryl Hines, begging him to cut it out.)After arriving at the party, “he grabbed the snake and stuffed it into the pillowcase while he was holding his infant son. So that was a little scary,” Kerry recalled.RFK Jr. then took a tiny rodent and fed it to the snake as all the kids screamed. The snake also latched onto his hand at one point.Later, as a “ton of kids” were playing in the pool, RFK Jr. went full-on crazy funcle and released the snake into the water, Kerry said.Snake! Snake in the water!I can’t imagine the absolute bedlam. Kerry was probably like Chief Brody in Jaws. “Get out! Everybody out! Out of the water! Everyone out! Get outta there!”Nevertheless, it’s objectively hilarious.Kerry conceded during the interview that her brother has an admirable “fascination with nature.”“But, on the other hand, [he] has, you know, a great lack of judgment when it comes to the safety and care of children.”“Is this the person you want running [the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services]?” Kerry asked. She had to make it about politics, didn’t she?The Kennedys have many skeletons in the closet, and RFK Jr. has had a rocky personal life. But there is no doubt he is an awesome uncle.Sadly, in today’s world, if the crazy funcle crashed the pool party with a harmless snake, parents would be up in arms. The police would get involved. Lawsuits would be filed. You would never hear the end of it.But maybe to break this spell of helicopter parenting and bubble-wrap culture, the uncles of America need to step up and take a cue from RFK Jr. Act more like a kook, because kids love a kook.In fact, my favorite part about being an uncle is that I can act like an immature kid again without being judged. I love being able to crawl around on the floor, imitating a Japanese man and making fart noises. I look like an idiot, but it entertains a toddler. That’s all that matters.I always told my siblings I was going to be a weird uncle. They’d better buckle up for what’s to come. The only thing I can promise is that there won’t be any live snakes.Like what you’re reading? If so, please consider subscribing to State of the Day or sharing this with a friend.
