Katy Perry's On-Stage Phone Call Shocker: Who's the Mystery Man She Chose?
Katy Perry only has eyes for one man.
The “Firework” singer, 41, headlined the O Son do Camiño festival in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, on Thursday, June 18, and playfully referenced her romance with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as her past relationships.
While performing her hit song “Never Really Over,” Perry danced around a giant prop cellphone on stage as she received calls from her exes, per fan footage posted on X. However, the singer didn’t seem interested in picking up the phone for her past suitors, who flashed on the screen under the initials “JM,” presumably for John Mayer, “RB,” an apparent reference to Russell Brand, and “OB,” seemingly for Orlando Bloom. Also included in the montage was Diplo, whose name came up on the phone’s screen.
At the end of the performance, Perry received a call from a “JPJT,” whose profile photo included a red heart and Canadian flag emoji, which she happily accepted. Trudeau’s full name is Justin Pierre James Trudeau.
Earlier this month, Perry gushed about her romance with Trudeau, with whom she recently made her red carpet debut. The couple attended the New York City premiere of her concert movie, The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris, on June 8.
“I would say now at the end of 91 shows, I feel like a more grounded person in so many aspects of my life. I am very in love,” she reflected on her 2025 Lifetimes Tour in a post-screening Q&A, going on to describe Trudeau as the “love of my life.”
Perry said that she feels very “anchored” by her relationship with the politician, noting, “I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite — I fly super high. Sometimes I need to be anchored, so to have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now.”
The songstress further opened up about finding love with Trudeau, 54, during a Wednesday, June 17, appearance on the “Unfamous” podcast.
“I have love in my life now. That’s transformed me,” Perry said, explaining how her songwriting has evolved over the years. “You think when The Beatles say, ‘All you need is love,’ it’s a cliché? Clichés are clichés for a reason … it’s like you don’t know until you have your baby how beautiful that experience is and how it transforms you.”
“I am constantly in transformation, and I have so many placements of Scorpio in my chart that it would be easy for me to go to the dark side,” she added. “I’m constantly rebirthing, constantly transforming, constantly, you know, phoenix to ashes, then hopefully eagle.”
Perry and Trudeau began dating in the summer of 2025 following her split from Bloom, 49, with whom she shares daughter Daisy Dove, 5.
“I don’t typically feel like a victim — you can hear it in my songs [that] I don’t resonate with that — but last year was pretty tough,” she hinted at her separation from Bloom. “It would have been easy for me to fall into that weird victim triangle. So, instead of falling into ‘woe is me,’ I was just like, ‘Let’s just feel this f***ing pain, let’s feel this anger, and let’s move on. Let’s learn from it also. Let’s get some feedback from it.’”
