President Donald Trump is doubling down on his false claim he was saved by 9/11 first responders immediately after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on New York City. “The failing New York Magazine wrote a story that I wasn’t down at the World Trade Center after the tragedy of September 11th, because nobody saw me there,” Trump, 80, claimed via TruthSocial on Tuesday, September 8. “Well, I don’t think I would be the first thing on anyone’s mind but, I was there, obviously not on the same day as the collapse, but shortly thereafter, with a large group of Construction Workers.” Earlier in the day, the commander-in-chief made headlines when he spoke at a Tunnel to Towers Foundation event near the White House, recalling an alleged incident in which he claimed two “big and strong” firemen carried him to safety near the World Trade Center on that fateful day. (Numerous investigations and Trump’s own comments during a live interview with New York’s WWOR-TV the day of the attacks show the then-reality TV star was miles away from the scene at the time of his alleged rescue.) “Everything I said was exactly accurate and, to prove the point, I am attaching clips of me there with numerous of my people, including my then Head of Security, Matthew Calamari, who has confirmed that very sad trip to Lower Manhattan, many times, to many different journalists, but it’s a story that just won’t die,” Trump claimed in his TruthSocial post. “The Fake News doesn’t want to listen, even when they know their story is false.” A detailed fact check by Newsweek in 2024 investigated Trump’s claims and found that there was “no evidence that Trump helped clear rubble or helped find survivors on 9/11.” Richard Alles, a retired deputy chief with the New York Fire Department, also told The New York Times in 2019 that Trump was never present at ground zero during or in the wake of the attacks. The White House, however, continued to stand by Trump’s remarks when members of the media pushed back with evidence. “President Trump spent the morning paying tribute to the heroic first responders who laid down their lives in service to others in the September 11th attacks and honoring their incredible families,” spokesperson Davis Ingle said in a statement to Us on Tuesday. “The President was relaying his experience of a city reeling immediately after and in the days and weeks after the horrific attacks — and the fact that the failing legacy media is using this to try to attack him is a disgrace and yet another reason why Americans’ trust in the media is at an all-time low.” In his TruthSocial post, Trump also took aim at New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman — who he referred to as “Maggot Hagerman” — and slammed her reporting that he will be attending an event at the Pentagon instead of the World Trade Center on Friday, September 11, because organizers won’t let him speak in New York. “Maggot knows that this is a lie! I have been to the New York solemn ceremony numerous times, and nobody speaks,” Trump claimed. “Hagerman, unattractive both inside and out, fully knows that her story is made up. She knows less about me than the average reporter ‘on the beat.’ I haven’t spoken to her in a long time, and certainly there was no ‘fact checking’ for her story — There never is! Let her reveal her sources, because they don’t exist.” While Trump demanded a retraction for the story, The New York Times issued a public statement saying the organization stands by its reporters and their reporting. “We won’t be issuing a retraction,” Nicole Taylor, a spokesperson for The New York Times, said in a statement via X on Wednesday, September 9. “This is another all too common example of the president lashing out at coverage he doesn’t like and belittling journalists who report the facts.” The publication added, “Readers can follow our coverage of the president’s 9/11 plans, and the evolving — and often disputed — account of his actions on Sept 11 here.”

Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s 15-year-old son, Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr., is seeking to avoid being tried as an adult following his sexual assault and sodomy arrest. KJ’s attorney filed a motion on Tuesday, September 8, to transfer the case to juvenile court and “for confidentiality proceedings,” according to court records viewed by Us. If the petition is granted, KJ wouldn’t be prosecuted as an adult. He was indicted on September 3 for aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment and three counts of sexual battery against a child under the age of 16. (KJ was arrested in August for aggravated sexual assault and aggravated sodomy but vehemently denied the accusations. He has not been arrested for the remaining charges in the indictment.) Following his arrest, KJ was remanded to Atlanta’s Regional Youth Detention Center ahead of a bond hearing on Friday, September 11. He will be arraigned next month. KJ’s lawyer, Jason Sheffield, told Page Six on Tuesday that his client plans to “enter a not guilty plea to all charges” during his arraignment. “It is difficult to comprehend that a 14- or 15-year-old child can be held in detention for a month or longer simply waiting for a bond hearing,” Sheffield noted in a statement. “But that detention is a direct consequence of the detective’s decision to arrest him on charges of this magnitude.” Us has reached out for comment. KJ has not presently entered a plea in connection to the case. (Zolciak, 48, and estranged husband Kroy, 40, also share son Kash, 14, and twins Kaia and Kane, both 12. The former NFL star also adopted Zolciak’s two daughters from a previous relationship, Brielle, 29, and Ariana, 24, upon their wedding.) “First and foremost, this is not the kind of information that should be for public dissemination. These are juveniles,” Sheffield told Us in a statement last month. “Secondly, my client is 100 percent innocent and tried to present evidence to the arresting officer, including a passed polygraph by a notable and respected sex offender polygrapher.” Sheffield added at the time, “Additionally, the officer’s report notes the [Georgia Bureau of Investigation] found no male DNA on or inside the areas the alleged victim claimed she was assaulted. Additionally, an examination was conducted, and no DNA belonging to my son was found.” The Bravo alum continued, “False accusations can have devastating consequences not only for the person being accused, but also for genuine survivors of sexual assault and abuse. Every legitimate allegation deserves to be taken seriously and investigated based on the facts and evidence. YouTuber Arrested After Disturbing Encounter with College Student Sparks Outrage

A man in Florida was arrested after he allegedly chased a college student with autism into a dorm bathroom and repeatedly flicked his face while filming for a YouTube video. Jack LaRoche has been charged with abuse of a disabled adult, false imprisonment and giving a false name to law enforcement. LaRoche was arrested following the incident that took place on August 22 on the University of North Florida campus. Police officers met with the victim after he reported that a man he did not know started following him outside of his dorm, according to a probable cause arrest affidavit viewed by Law & Crime. He then went inside of the building and the man – who has since been identified as LaRoche – continued to follow him. The victim said he tried to go into a friend's room, but the friend was not home to let him in. He then ran to a bathroom and hid in a stall before LaRoche went into the next stall and peeked his head over. He then allegedly started talking to the victim. LaRoche allegedly entered the stall the victim was in and started "flicking" the victim in the face, which caused his glasses to fall off, per the affidavit. Police said that the defendant then instructed the victim to set a timer on his phone for 10 minutes. LaRoche allegedly told the victim to stay in the stall until the timer went off and threatened that he would "come back and get you” if he left earlier. The victim said he stayed in the bathroom until the timer went off because he was "too afraid to leave due to the suspect's statements," according to the affidavit. After he left, he went to the police station to report what had happened. Police officers later found LaRoche while he was walking on campus. He allegedly told the officers that his name was "Jack Jones" and that he was a student at the school. When he was asked which dorm he lived in, LaRoche was unable to name the building. UNF Spinnaker, the school’s newspaper, has since reported that LaRoche is not a student at the school. It’s not currently clear why he targeted the victim. He was then taken into custody and the victim identified him as the person who assaulted him. LaRoche eventually told the officers his real name. He also explained that he was on campus to shoot videos for YouTube and said he was just "f***ing around." He has since denied that he assaulted the victim. Following his arrest, he was taken into custody at Duval County Jail on a bond of about $22,500. LaRoche is next scheduled to appear in court on Monday, September 14. It’s not currently clear if LaRoche has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following his arrest.

REUTERSIn August, the president, when departing a NATO meeting in Turkey, slipped off of his new plane via a catering truck to board a different military aircraft for the departure. Reporters traveling with him were unaware of the bait-and-switch.The slide was deployed from the right-hand-side door of the Qatari plane, opposite the left-hand-side door that Trump normally enters. That right-hand door was the one in Turkey that the president slipped out of amid a threat from Iran.Trump, however, expressed his confidence in the new plane despite the fact it doesn’t have some of the anti-defense measures as the older Air Force One.“Yeah I am,” he responded when asked if he was sure it was safe. “Or I wouldn’t be on it.”It’s unclear why the slide was deployed. Typically, on a commercial airliner, it can take up to two days to repack the slide and fit it back into its storage area. The plane then usually has to undergo an inspection before it can fly again.Air Force staff did get the slide deflated and removed it, carrying it away from the plane so it could take off. The White House referred The Post to the president’s comments when asked why the test was conducted and if the older Air Force One was brought out in case it was needed to transport Trump.Trump has said he new plane will go out of service for a month or two later this year for security enhancements. He plans to take it to Ireland this weekend for a short trip to the Emerald Isle.
