Trump's Bold Move: Iran Peace Deal Hours Away Amid Tensions with Israel New

Trump's Bold Move: Iran Peace Deal Hours Away Amid Tensions with Israel

President Trump said that the US and Iran were still on track to sign a peace deal Sunday that will reopen the Strait of Hormuz — his 80th birthday — despite Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon that apparently infuriated Tehran. Trump told Fox News’ Trey Yingst that he asked Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, “What the f— are you doing?” in response to the strikes.Following the blunt call with the prime minister, Trump revealed that he planned to speak with Iranian officials and press them not to strike Israel in retaliation. He also predicted that the memorandum of understanding with Iran will get signed within the next two to three hours — or sometime late afternoon Sunday. President Trump called out Israel for its attack on Lebanon Sunday. REUTERSIsrael had carried out strikes near Beirut Sunday in response to Hezbollah firing shots towards Israeli territory. The president confirmed that he plans to lift the blockade on Iranian vessels if Tehran agrees to the memorandum of understanding and mused that there may later be an in-person signing of the preliminary peace deal in the future after the planned electronic signing on Sunday.Publicly, Trump had dinged Israel over the strikes on the outskirts of Beirut. Smoke rising from an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon on June 14, 2026. REUTERS“This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran,” Trump posted on Truth Social. ” Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very small and meaningless.”“We are very close to a Deal that will bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon, and all sides should stand down,” he went on. “There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel.”“Let’s not blow it!”An Israeli fighter jet seen flying over southern Lebanon on Sunday. ATEF SAFADI/EPA/ShutterstockA building in a suburb of Beirut destroyed by an Israeli airstrike. WAEL HAMZEH/EPA/ShutterstockThe Israeli Defense Forces claimed to have taken out a Hezbollah command center near Beirut in its retaliatory strikes Sunday. Hezbollah had launched rockets and drones toward northern Israel, according to top officials. Hezbollah rejected a cease-fire proposal with Israel last month.Last week, Israel and Lebanon exchanged fire, which threatened to derail talks over a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran. The US hit multiple targets in Iran last week as well after Trump complained that Iran was “playing us for suckers” and intentionally delaying talks. The two sides then announced the proposed framework. Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf warned Sunday that the strikes in Lebanon could upend the memorandum of understanding. “The Zionists’ incursion into Dahiyeh has once again shown that America either lacks the will to fulfill its commitments or the ability to do so,” he posted on social media, per a translation. “If you lack the will and ability to fulfill your commitments, speaking of continuing the path is not possible.”Despite the strikes, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz was optimistic that the agreement will still get signed. “I’m confident. The team is confident,” he told ABC News’ “This Week.” “I don’t want to get ahead of the president or the vice president, but they have every intent of getting this done today.”The memorandum of understanding would extend the cease-fire with Iran for 60 more days, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and create the conditions for broader talks over Iran’s nuclear program.

Timothee Chalamet Chooses Knicks Glory Over Oscar Dreams: What Happened? New

Timothee Chalamet Chooses Knicks Glory Over Oscar Dreams: What Happened?

Watching the New York Knicks win the 2026 NBA Finals was a once-in-a-lifetime moment for Timothée Chalamet — and he’s been nominated for multiple Academy Awards. “Way rather this than the Oscars!” Chalamet, 30, proclaimed in a postgame interview on Saturday, June 13, after the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs for the championship title. “Come on, baby! Knicks are champions, baby!” Chalamet traveled to San Antonio for the fifth game in the series, which the Knicks ultimately won 94-90. (The Knicks won the NBA title series 4-1.) He also celebrated with the basketball team in the locker room later that evening. “I’m not an athlete, I’m good,” Chalamet tearfully told reporters after the postgame champagne celebration in the locker room. “I’m not an athlete! Usually I have a stunt double do that.” In addition to his enthusiastic Knicks fandom, the New York native is also a prolific actor and has been nominated for four Oscars. Chalamet has earned recognition in the Best Actor category three times, though lost at each ceremony. As a producer on Marty Supreme, Chalamet also earned a nod when the 2026 ping-pong film was nominated for Best Picture in March. Chalamet and Marty Supreme lost out to Michael B. Jordan and One Battle After Another, respectively, at the 2026 Oscars earlier this year. While Chalamet’s role in Marty didn’t win at the Academy Awards, he did take home trophies at the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes. “Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I’m in a category with many greats. … To [director] Josh Safdie, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for this role,” Chalamet gushed when he won big at the Globes in January. “Thank you for believing in me. … If you would have told me when I was 19 years old I would thanking Mr. Wonderful from Shark Tank. Alright you’re laughing so I got away with that. Thank you, Kevin. I would have been stunned but very grateful.” He continued, “My dad instilled a spirit of gratitude in me growing up, ‘Always be grateful for what you have.’ It’s allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty handed, my head held high, grateful just to be here, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say those moments didn’t make this moment that much sweeter.” In addition to thanking his parents, Chalamet dedicated the win to girlfriend Kylie Jenner. “For my parents, for my partner, I love you,” he concluded his speech. “Thank you so much.” Chalamet and Jenner, 28, have been together since 2023, often attending awards shows and Knicks games together.

So much for doing the right thing.Spike Lee rejected Prince Harry’s handshake in an awkward moment at Saturday’s New York Knicks vs. San Antonio Spurs game, as seen in Page Six’s exclusive video. The filmmaker, 69, watched the Duke of Sussex, 41, hug someone in the stands at Texas’ Frost Bank Center at the NBA Finals Game 5 before saying something to the retired royal.Spike Lee denied Prince Harry a handshake at Saturday’s New York Nicks and San Antonio Spurs game, in Page Six’s exclusive video. Page SixThe filmmaker leaned down to say something to the Duke of Sussex from the stands at Frost Bank Center on Saturday. Page SixWhen Harry noticed the Oscar winner pointing at him, he doubled back and stuck his hand out.The former military pilot then placed his hand awkwardly on Lee’s stomach as the director denied his handshake and pointed a finger at him.The pair ultimately did shake hands while continuing to chat.Harry reached for a shake — but when Lee didn’t return it, he pressed his palm to the director’s stomach. Page SixThe Oscar winner eventually returned Harry’s shake. Page SixLee pointed to himself as Harry departed — seemingly asking something along the lines of, “Who, me?” — and Harry replied with an affirmative finger point back as he walked away.Reps for Lee and Harry did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.Perhaps the duo were addressing Harry’s old secret Facebook account under the alias Spike Wells, which Lee has spoken about publicly. The Duke of Sussex and Lee continued chatting. His job was done.Brunson scored eight straight Knicks points in the second quarter as the Knicks shaved a 16-point deficit to five by halftime. He scored 14 in the third quarter as the Knicks clawed back from a 15-point deficit. Then he saved his best magic for the fourth quarter, when he scored 13 straight Knicks points to turn another double-digit deficit into Knicks glory. The Knicks trailed by 10-plus points all five games of this series. They are the Comeback Kings and finished off this magical season in the most fitting way possible.<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="464" height="590" src="https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/06/061326NBAFinals088CW.jpg?w=806" alt="San Antonio Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama #1 reaches for a rebound between New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson #23 and New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson #11 during the 1st half. AP Photo/Heather KhalifaThe Knicks led for just 23.6 percent of the series — by far the lowest time spent leading by a champion since the 1971 Finals, according to Elias Sports Bureau. But the Knicks kept rising like champions in crunch time. The young Spurs kept crumbling.“We absolutely dominated for most of the series,” Victor Wembanyama said. “But our errors, our mistakes, are punished so hard that we can’t have ups and downs like this.”Brunson is just the second player in history to score 45 points on the road in a title-clinching victory. The other? Michael Jordan. The Post’s front page on June 14, 2026: “CHAMPS!”New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby and Timothee Chalamet hold up The New York Post Champs front page. The Knicks got just nine points from the bench. In totality, the Knicks only got 49 points from everyone other than Brunson. The Knicks this postseason have been one of the great team efforts you’ll ever see. But to close it out, they rode their face of the franchise. There was some question about who would be Finals MVP entering Game 5. By the end, there was no doubt that it would be Brunson. Finally, at last, the 1969-70 and 1972-73 banners have some company. Finally, a new era of Knicks are champions.Timothée Chalamet celebrates the Knicks’ win with Mikal Bridges as he holds up a New York Post cover featuring their championship win on June 13, 2026. There is no ambiguity — these Knicks are the cream of the crop. There will be no more “0-0” quotes from Brunson and the rest of the Knicks. No more need to talk about playing with desperation.Jalen Brunson celebrates the NBA Finals victory with Knicks owner James Dolan. Getty ImagesNo more avoiding the Larry O’Brien trophy out of superstition. All there was left to do was lift it.“People don’t understand, we don’t really talk about it, but the weight of that jersey, the expectations, the pressure of that jersey,” Hart said. “And like I say, today, right now, it’s the lightest it’s ever felt.”There were years of torment. Years of stars rejecting them at every turn. Years of being the butt of jokes across the league. These Knicks have taken a torch to all that misery and restored glory. All those championship memories the older generation constantly told those younger than them? About how special it would be if the Knicks could ever get there again? These Knicks just created new ones that will live in immortality.
