Chrissy Metz Credits GLP-1 Medication for 100lb Weight Loss and Improved Mobility

Published 16:18 31 Oct 2026 GMTChrissy Metz opened up about how the medication had helped her to focus on other aspects of her health as wellChrissy Metz has opened up about the effect that using GLP-1 medication has had on her life. The actor, who is known for her role in This is Us, shared that she had lost 100lbs after using GLP-1 medication to assist with weight loss, and this has affected her health in other ways too. While originally prescribed for treating diabetes, GLP-1 medications also help to limit appetite due to their impact on the way that the body processes blood and insulin, meaning that combined with diet and exercise they can support weight loss.Since her weight loss, Metz spoke to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet for the Nocturne premiere about how it also had an impact on her life outside of the weight loss as well, calling it 'super helpful'.Advert“I think, honestly, being able to run around a stage eight shows a week was like really, really amazing,” she said, sporting a gorgeous green velvet gown for the occasion.“I’m perimenopausal, I got knee issues, there’s things going on,” she added. “Just the mental capacity to have other things to think about than obsessing about the food noise, that’s been super, super helpful. It’s been great.”Metz opened up about using GLP-1 medication (Rob Kim/WireImage)It's not the first time that Metz has opened up about her journey using GLP-1 medication, as she has previously spoken about keeping up with strength training while using the medication. In a post shared to her Instagram story she showed off her bicep and said: “You know, I love all my blips and blops and my flips and flops, but she’s making progress on the strength training journey.”Metz added: “She’s making progress. We like progress. That’s my progress report.”She had also previously spoken to PEOPLE about how she had tried several different methods to lose weight but couldn't get anything to work for her“I’m in perimenopause, and there were obesity issues within my family and with my father, and I felt like I’ve tried so many modalities, whether it was diets or therapy, and none of it really worked for me," she said.Metz said that the medication has affect her life in several ways (Raymond Hall/GC Images)Metz also told the outlet how the medication helped her to change her relationship with food as well.“It’s so nice not to be obsessing about what I’m going to have every minute, even as I’m still consuming the meal," she said. "I just vilified food for so long because I was taught that it was bad, and you shouldn’t eat this or that."Not only that, but she said that it has helped with joints and inflammation as well. And it’s been helping me be more mobile and have less joint pain and inflammation, and run around onstage, and just do things that would have been much more difficult several pounds and inches ago," she said.As for how people might react to her decision to use GLP-1 medication, Metz said that people are going to have thoughts no matter what she does, but that's not what's important to her.“It doesn’t matter, because like I always say, they’re not in my life," she said. "They’re not in my doctor’s notes. They’re not in the hereditary issues my family has. My life is my life, and I have to do what’s best for me."Featured Image Credit: Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagicTopics: US News, Celebrity, Health

Former Pro-Palestine Advocate Criticizes Movement for Ignoring Iranian Women's Rights New

Former Pro-Palestine Advocate Criticizes Movement for Ignoring Iranian Women's Rights

See more of our coverage in your search results. Parishad Kavyani was born in the Islamic Republic of Iran and spent most of her childhood there until she moved to Canada at 14, a reality she says shaped her nuanced view of the pro-Palestine, anti-Israel movement she once supported. Now she says it was destroyed by “liberal intellectualism” that overly focused on the oppressor instead of the human rights of all affected.“I have never faced the amount of homophobia, racism and sexism that I have experienced in the past nine months from the leftists, from the very people that I marched with for over two years for a free Palestine, and that is insanity,” Kavyani told Fox News Digital of leaving the cause.Kavyani went on to reveal one of the problems she wrestled with while still supporting the Palestine movement — the absence of support for the freedom and rights of Iranian women.“[They] advocate for liberation of people, [they] advocate for women’s rights, but when it comes to Iranian women wanting freedom, wanting the freedom to wear whatever they want, [they] suddenly are quiet — and not only quiet, but [they] support the oppressor. That’s my issue… [they] cherry-pick between oppressors,” she said.Parishad Kavyani says she left the pro-Palestine movement due to hypocrisy and a lack of support for Iranian women. @certainlynotparishad/InstagramKavyani, who admits to being a part of pro-Palestine when the movement began to form before splitting with the cause after an array of its supporters began posting pro-Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps [IRGC] content, detailed the intricate view Iranians develop on advocacy for Palestinians.“As an Iranian born and raised in Iran… you are raised with a lot of information, a lot of propaganda around what is happening in Israel, what is happening in Palestine, and you are just told this every single day by the authorities. That Palestinians need help, they’ve been oppressed, they’ve been getting killed all of these years, so we have to help them,” she added.“Then… you enter the society, and you see there is poverty everywhere. You see that the villages in Iran don’t have drinking water. You see that the villagers in Iran don’t have a road to a hospital… Why? Because the government doesn’t actually do anything about the people in need inside the country, and you’re always told, ‘Oh, but we have to save money to send to Palestine,’” Kavyani said.“The more time you spend in the country you’re like, ‘Why is it my responsibility to save another nation?’” Kavyani added.Kavyani marched for a free Palestine for over two years before breaking ties after seeing pro-IRGC content online. @certainlynotparishad/InstagramThe Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, was a tipping point for her.“When October 7 happened, I had a lot of conversations with people [about it]… Like, just because someone is holding an Israeli passport doesn’t mean that they should just get killed… If there’s a war that you’re including civilians in that war, and you’re taking civilians hostage, and you’re raping civilians or torturing civilians — that’s not something that I support no matter who this person is, because I’m not somebody who thinks someone deserves to die just because of where they’re from or just because the political belief that they hold on to,” she said.“That is, like, so ideology-driven, which we’re seeing right now on the internet and in real life… You cannot create a hierarchy of people and say this person deserves saving more than this person… That liberal intellectualism is, like, so insane,” Kavyani relayed. The 2023 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel served as a major tipping point for Kavyani to distance herself. @certainlynotparishad/InstagramAfter it happened, she said, she saw a fundamental flaw in the coalition to which she once considered herself connected, saying they were “cherry-picking” between killers.“After that happened, I started separating myself… because I was like, this is not the group that I want to associate myself with because I don’t think a lot of the people within that movement are there for the human rights aspect of it,” Kavyani said.

Kosovo's 2027 Budget to Exceed 1 Billion Euros for Capital Investments

Photographer Ulric Collette's Genetic Portraits Capture Striking Family Resemblances

Published 16:42 31 Oct 2026 GMTHe said the images featuring his own family were particularly precious to himA photographer with a penchant for merging the portraits of family members together into one face got the idea from a project he was doing with his son, and the results are striking.Canadian artist Ulric Collette developed the Genetic Portraits series after doing a year-long self portrait project with his son where he wanted to combine what the two of them looked like and see if it would recreate how his own face had looked as a child. While he was putting it together he found the results fascinating and decided he wanted to further explore the idea with other members of his family. The results create a face of many features, some childlike and some clearly belonging to an adult, capturing the similarities and differences in the family resemblance.AdvertThe photographer said the merging of pictures of his daughter and her grandmother meant a lot to him (Ulric Collette Genetic Portraits)Starting the series back in 2008, Quebec-based photographer Ulrich takes a picture of two relatives in the same light and framing and then merges half of the image with the corresponding other half."Two portraits touched me deeply," the photographer explained of the ones which turned out closest to his liking."The first is my daughter Ismaëlle with my mother Ginette, taken when Ismaëlle was 13. The similarities are obvious and striking. The second is a portrait of me with my father, made one year before he passed away. I consider it something precious."Most of the people he approached to be part of Genetic Portraits were because they resembled each other, and even when two relatives didn't seem much like each other it was easier to spot with their faces lined up togther.Ulric said the picture he made of himself and his father was 'precious' to him (Ulric Collette Genetic Portraits)"That resemblance often lives in small details: the way someone smiles, their expressions, the wrinkles around the eyes that follow the same lines," he added of where best it was to look for the signs."Even when there seems to be little resemblance at first glance, there is always some."While there were similarities between the pictures the photographer said that it ends up being 'a mix not a copy', noting that even if certain details line up perfectly others won't.He also pointed out that since he gets to choose which side of the face to use and where to line them up he created his 'own interpretation of their resemblance'.Sometimes the details show how much people really look like each other, as this combination of a son and mother shows (Ulric Collette Genetic Portraits)The pictures he's taken and combined show how alike and dissimilar people can look from each other at the same time.He said: "Everyone wonders what they got from their parents, and these images give a partial but very concrete answer. I think that’s why people connect with the series."I always do the session with all participants present, and what stays with me most is the bond between them. "The people who choose to take part in the project usually share a real closeness, and I think that comes through in the images too."Collette isn't the only photographer who likes to share the contrast between two similar images, as Steven Burton developed his own project showing people what they'd look like without tattoos.Featured Image Credit: Ulric Collette Genetic PortraitsTopics: Art, Community, Parenting
