The insurance mogul and yacht owner accused of causing the death of NYC fashion entrepreneur Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra was shocked when he was served legal papers after dodging lawyers for two months.Christopher Durnan allegedly sent attorneys on a wild goose chase up and down the East Coast before they finally caught up to him in October — one year after Nolan-O’Slatarra was found dead aboard the financier’s boat at a swanky Montauk boat club. “Was surprised it took you so long,” Durnan said after he was served papers on Oct. 1, according to court documents filed on Oct. 15 and viewed by The Post. Izveštaj EK: Srbija nazaduje u slobodi medija i vladavini prava New

Izveštaj EK: Srbija nazaduje u slobodi medija i vladavini prava

Foto: EPA/RONALD WITTEK autor: 31. okt. Adventurer Karl Bushby Nears End of 28-Year Global Trek New

Adventurer Karl Bushby Nears End of 28-Year Global Trek

Updated 11:59 31 Oct 2026 GMTPublished 07:49 7 Oct 2026 GMT+1He's only got a weekend of walking left nowKarl Bushby is only a couple of days away from making it back home now after travelling around the world for 28 years. He just got back to the UK earlier this month after swimming the English Channel and since then has been trudging towards his home in Hull, which he expects to reach by Monday (2 November). At which point he'll have earned the chance to put his feet up for a little while.Along the way the 56-year-old man has had to face down hazards including the Coronavirus pandemic, a polar bear attack that almost killed him, being attacked by a mob in Peru and an incident where he had to be rescued by a helicopter, but on the balance of things he's enjoyed it more than he hasn't.AdvertHe's been pushing a card laden down with camping gear along his way, but now the prospect of home is so near he told The Independent his 'purpose and reason for living is about to end' and his next challenge would be getting accustomed to 'a society that you just don’t know anymore'.Bushby has dealt with severe weather conditions throughout his journey home (Instagram)He'd hoped to complete the last aquatic leg of his journey home through the English Channel on foot, an agreement couldn't be reached, so he ended up swimming for over 20 hours across three days in order to land back on the British beaches.Bushby said: "[It] feels good to have UK soil under my feet after all these years. It hasn't been easy, and that's part of the point; proving I'm more capable than I give myself credit for."He added: "All of us can accomplish more than we will ever imagine."HM Coastguard said it 'liaised with French authorities and maritime sector partners to ensure safety protocols were met', after Bushby's initial request to walk down the Channel Tunnel was vetoed.Bushby previously swam across the Caspian Sea (Resul Rehimov/Anadolu via Getty Images)Bushby started his journey at the tip of South America on 1 November 1998, so assuming he arrives on time on Monday it'll be 28 years and a day that he's been travelling. He started out when he wasn't yet 30, and how he's in his 50s having travelled around the world. His journey has taken him across 28 different countries and seen him travel over 30,000 miles but when he spoke from Belgium earlier this year, it seems as if his legs and his body had finally had enough, as he's no doubt desperate to get home and put his feet up with a cup of tea and a biscuit. He's certainly timed his return home well, as he will get to watch Premier League teams get mauled by the tigers in his home town of Hull.Featured Image Credit: Leon Neal/Getty ImagesTopics: UK News

Fort Lauderdale's Waterfront Mansions Offer Luxury Living with Private Docks New

Fort Lauderdale's Waterfront Mansions Offer Luxury Living with Private Docks

More boat means moor problems — that’s why a home with a private pier is the splashiest asset in South Florida. And with prices for waterfront properties in Miami now regularly topping $100 million, Fort Lauderdale looks like a relative steal.“Fort Lauderdale’s extensive network of canals, waterways, marinas and private docks means homeowners can keep a boat close to home and be on the water within minutes,” said Jenni Morejon, president and CEO of Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority. “That connectivity is a major reason Fort Lauderdale continues to attract buyers who want to make boating part of their lifestyle.”One of the city’s most eye-catching homes is located at 733 Middle River Drive. The three-story, six-bedroom mansion was built by Prestige Homes in 2023 and is now on the market with Rachel Berg and Marc Brandt of Douglas Elliman for $38.9 million.Aptly named Prestige Homes designed the three-story home on Middle River Drive. Daniel Petroni“Fort Lauderdale has evolved tremendously at the ultra-luxury level,” said Berg.“Buyers who once looked exclusively at Miami or Palm Beach are recognizing how much lifestyle, waterfront and privacy they can have here.”At the 11,838-square-foot home, an elevator leads to two putting greens on the third floor, flanking a private office with sweeping sunset views of the saltwater pool and your yacht. It can be moored along the home’s 108 feet of deepwater frontage, with no low bridges to hinder your ocean access. Other amenities include a large screening room, billiard room and a built-in bar.“The home is striking, but what really sets it apart is the way it captures the best of Fort Lauderdale from every direction — open water and the city skyline, with Las Olas as the backdrop for the sunset every evening,” said Berg. “There are beautiful waterfront homes, and then there are homes that feel irreplaceable — this is one of them.”Farther south in Rio Vista, agent Chad Carroll of Compass has similar words for the “showstopper” home at 1619 SE 7th St. The contemporary, Lake Silvia-front, seven-bedroom, 11-bath, 10,540-square-foot home just hit the market for $34.95 million.Sail away with 1619 SE 7th by sinking $34.9 million into this breezy yacht spot. Daniel Petroni“It is arguably the nicest house in Fort Lauderdale,” Carroll opined. “The views are outrageous looking up and down the New River.”Designed by Caprio Custom, the landscaping has a jungle vibe, while a 2,000-square-foot rooftop sky lounge includes a wet bar and summer kitchen. The garage can accommodate four vehicles, and inside, a $100,000 lift will hoist your car up to the second story.“It allows you to get out of your car in your private office,” Carroll said. But that’s not the only way to arrive in style: The home’s private dock sits along 125 feet of New River frontage.Fork over $26.5 million to anchor onto 1400 W Lake. Daniel PetroniJust to the southwest, another newly constructed home at 1400 West Lake Drive in Harbor Beach — which Carroll called “the most desirable gated community with deep water access in Fort Lauderdale” — is now “competitively” priced at $26.5 million. The three-story custom contemporary features seven bedrooms and 10.5 baths spread across 10,400 square feet, with space for three cars. With interiors by La Dolce Vita, the house has Italian finishes, his-and-hers bathrooms, multiple pools, including hot and cold plunges, waterfalls and fire features. It also sits on a corner lot with 250 feet of waterfront.“You can park your boat on the north side of the property and it won’t obstruct your open water views to the east,” Carroll said of a quandary often faced by large yacht owners. The new St. Regis Bahia Mar will add slips for up to 250 vessels. Daniel PetroniDon’t want to bother with the swabbing on a stand-alone home? The upcoming $2 billion development of the St. Regis Bahia Mar is on its way to transforming 40 acres at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. into “a mini-Monaco.”The current Hilton DoubleTree will be torn down next year making way for the exciting waterfront project. One tower will have 78 private residences, while the other includes a 122-key St. Regis hotel plus 106 St. Regis-branded Resort Residences designed by Arquitectonica, with interiors by Tara Bernerd & Partners.Amenities will include fitness, pool, spa and retail offerings, along with a beach club and extensive dockage for 250 boats and superyachts up to 350 feet long.Sales have launched, with Resort Collection prices starting at $3 million for one- and two-bedrooms, while the Private Residences start at $4.9 million for three- and four-bedrooms. Berg is also representing the project, which is expected to be completed in 2030. On the south side of that cove along Harbor Boulevard, developers WellDuo and Vertical Developments are launching sales for the Riva Residenze, branded by the iconic 184-year-old Italian yacht builder, Riva. Other yacht chops include interiors by celebrated boat designer, Giuseppina Arena and six private slips.Designed by Arquitectonica, the 20-story tower has 36, two- to six-bedroom residences plus two, full-floor penthouses with their own private pools and outdoor kitchens — and all have custom Italian furniture by Formitalia. Among the Riva amenities are two pools, a rooftop sundeck, a fitness center and a private beach club.Anchors aweigh.Route Sixty-Six: This resort’s 10th-floor penthouse is calling your namePier Sixty-Six Residences’ five-bedroom Indigo penthouse is asking $16 million.
