Walmart Faces Lawsuit Over Alleged Shrimp Weight Inflation in Illinois

See more of our coverage in your search results. Walmart is being sued for allegedly skimping on shrimp, with one pescophile saying the retail giant has been inflating the weight of sacks of the product with ice.The new class-action suit from Elijah Baptist of Illinois says some of Walmart’s shrimp packages have up to 11% less shrimp than advertised once the ice in them is removed, according to Top Class Actions. He’s regularly bought the product for some three years, and was especially disappointed when he recently picked up some Walmart shrimp for a party he threw, the suit states. The new suit from Elijah Baptist of Illinois says some of Walmart’s shrimp packages have up to 11% less shrimp than advertised. billtster – stock.adobe.comA jumbo bag of Walmart’s frozen, raw, tail-on shrimp is about $16 for 2 pounds, with an advertised 21 to 25 shrimp per pound, per the suit. If Baptist were to buy 6 pounds for a 10-person party, he would have lost about 15 shrimp or about $5, the suit notes. The fish lover said he would not have bought the bags or paid as much had he known the actual amount they contained.“We have policies in place to help ensure suppliers provide correctly labeled products,” said a spokesperson from Walmart which recently agreed to pay $45 million to customers over another food-weight lawsuit . “We are reviewing the complaint and will respond in court.”Baptist’s suit may come down to “glazing,” a common, perfectly legal seafood industry practice in which producers coat their product with water to create a protective barrier around raw shellfish. Ted Bundy Linked to 1974 Murder of Melissa Ann Smith Decades After Execution New

Ted Bundy Linked to 1974 Murder of Melissa Ann Smith Decades After Execution

Published 23:48 27 Oct 2026 GMTTed Bundy's victim count has risen decades after his death, as authorities in Utah say they've finally solved a 1974 murder Ted Bundy has been linked to another murder almost 40 years after he was executed. The serial killer is responsible for killing dozens of women and girls in several states throughout the 1970s, while many more escaped or survived with injuries.Bundy was executed in Florida in 1989 for the 1978 murders of two women at the Chi Omega sorority house at Florida State University. However, nearly 40 decades on, authorities in Utah say they have uncovered another one of his victims - 17-year-old Melissa Ann Smith in 1974, a death that had long been listed as a cold case.AdvertSmith went missing in October 1974 with a hunter finding her naked body days later. The prosecutor in Summit County, Utah, said investigators are satisfied that Bundy was responsible for killing Smith in 1974.“This case demonstrates the importance of preserving evidence, even when decades have passed,” said the Salt Lake county sheriff, Rosie Rivera, on Tuesday (27 October). Police say they are ‘satisfied’ Ted Bundy is responsible for the 1974 killing of Melissa Ann Smith (Utah Department of Public Safety)“We have the ability to take a look at these cases again and again.” The latest of Bundy’s confirmed victims comes just months after officials confirmed that he was also responsible for the 1974 killing of Laura Ann Aime. Aime, who was 17, was last seen at a Halloween party in October before being found dead the following month. After he was convicted, Bundy confessed to the killing of Aime, alongside several others, but it wasn’t until April this year that he was definitively linked to her murder. Mike Reynolds, a sergeant with the Utah county sheriff’s office, said: “The voices and cherished memories of Melissa Ann Smith and Laura Ann Aime and others involved in these cases ring louder than the hate and sedition of the one that took their lives. “With every case closure may we stomp the memory of Ted Bundy out.”Bundy was executed in 1989 (Getty) Bundy confessed to 28 murders but is believed to be responsible for many more. Back in April, a detective from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, said the DNA profile used to link Bundy to the murder of Aime had been shared with other departments, with the hope that it could lead to closing more cases.Bundy is one of the US’s most infamous serial killers and was known to approach women in public places where he would attempt to earn their trust by faking an injury or tricking them into believing he was an authority figure. He would then lure his victims to his car and take them to a secluded spot to kill them. In 1975, Bundy was arrested for kidnap and sentenced to 15 years in jail, but he escaped from prison in 1977 after jumping from a window. He was recaptured by cops but managed to escape again during which time he continued with his killing spree until he was finally caught in 1978. Bundy was given three death sentences across two trials and was executed via electric chair in January 1989.Although he was killed 37 years ago, his death tally continues to rise thanks to advancements in DNA testing.

Dog Believed Euthanized Found Alive with Vet Employee Months Later

Published 17:23 27 Oct 2026 GMTThe owner of Cha Cha the dog said that she recognised her dog while scrolling on Facebook months after believing Cha Cha had diedTwo families have accused an animal hospital of lying to them about their animals being put down.Rebecca Belote has claimed that when she took her four-year-old pug Cha Cha to the Senoia Animal Hospital Coweta County she was advised that Cha Cha's poor health meant that the only option left was for Cha Cha to be put to sleep.Belote says that the devastated family agreed to this due to Cha Cha being diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis and being in organ failure. The news was difficult for her husband and 17-year-old son to deal with, with Ms Belote telling Channel 2: "They both took it kind of hard. My son was really attached to the dog."AdvertShe added: "They had matching clothes. Like matching hoodies that they would wear. She hardly walked anywhere cause he carried her everywhere."Vets recommended putting down Cha Cha due to poor health (FOX 5 Atlanta/YouTube)When Cha Cha became sick, they took her to the vets, where Belote claims they were given the news that tragically, there was nothing that the vets could do to help the dog.The family had believed that Cha Cha had died, until months later when Belote was scrolling through Facebook, and claims that she saw a picture of a dog that she knew was Cha Cha."I knew scrolling like that's my dog," she said, before discovering that the person who appeared to have Cha Cha is an employee at the vets where they had taken the dog.Belote claims that the partner of the employee has confirmed to her that they have Cha Cha, but she says Senoia Animal Hospital Coweta County denies that its employee took Cha Cha after Belote and her family believed that the dog had been put down."They have a lawyer," said Ms Belote, "they won't talk about it."She also claims that despite being told there was nothing to be done for Cha Cha, the employee's partner said that the dog was doing better.Rebecca Belote says vets lied to her about euthanising her pug (WSB-TGV)Belote claims that the hospital has since put down Cha Cha, and is concerned that this happened despite the claims that Cha Cha's condition had improved."The fact that they put a healthy dog down. That's just sick," she said.Belote has said that she filed a complaint with the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine over the alleged incident involving Cha Cha.A similar alleged incident has also been reported at the same hospital involving a cat called Annie.A separate allegedly incident at the same vets involved Annie the cat (FOX 5 Atlanta/YouTube) Annie's family believed she had been euthanised, but they claim they discovered 18 months later that a veterinary worker had taken her home.At the family's request, Annie was euthanised in August.Fox News reports that police and prosecutors in Senoia have declined to file charges over the incident.Captain Jason Ercole said: "We feel that there are obviously some ethical concerns regarding the conduct at the Senoia Animal Hospital, but we don't believe that it rises to the level of criminal conduct."Ethically, we feel that there is other authorities that could better address these issues, like the State Board of Veterinary Services."An attorney representing Senoia Animal Hospital has also shared a statement with Fox News, which said: "With the developing issues at this time, we have advised (them) not to make any statements regarding these issues - the Hospital has decided to follow our advice."Senoia Animal Hospital looks forward to providing excellent care to its clients and the community."LADbible has contacted Senoia Animal Hospital for a comment.Featured Image Credit: WSB-TVTopics: US News, Animals
