Nick Reiner's Trustee Seeks Court Approval for $300 Jail Essentials Amid $1.6 Million Trust Dispute

An attorney representing the trustee overseeing Nick Reiner’s trust is asking a judge to release $300 so he can purchase basic items behind bars while awaiting trial for the murders of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner.During a hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, Lauriann Wright, who represents successor trustee Jodi Pais Montgomery, requested that the relatively small amount be deposited into Nick’s jail commissary account.Wright described the request as a “quality of life issue,” stressing that the $300 was a small amount compared to the much larger sum at the center of the ongoing legal battle. An attorney representing the trustee overseeing Nick Reiner’s trust is asking a judge to release $300 so he can purchase basic items while behind bars. (Pictured: Reiner in February 2026)The request comes as the 33-year-old continues fighting for access to approximately $1.6 million held in the Nick Reiner Children’s Trust which was established by his late parents in 1993.As Page Six previously reported, Nick’s attorneys claimed in September that he had not received “even $5” from the trust to purchase basic necessities while incarcerated. His lawyers argues that he was entitled to receive half of the trust’s assets when he turned 30 in September 2023, more than two years before his parents’ death. Nick with his pubic defender Kimberly Greene in February. ReutersAccording to court filings, at least $558,000 was due to Nick — who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia — at the time, his attorneys claimed. However, Wright previously argues that California’s Slayer Statute prevents Nick from accessing the funds because he has been charged with murdering his parents.Per Justia Law, the statute prevents a “person who feloniously and intentionally kills the decedent” from gaining access to “property, interest, or benefit under a will of the decedent, or a trust created by or for the benefit of the decedent.”Wright also argued that releasing the funds before Nick’s criminal case is resolved could be “irreversible,” and that his share of the trust should instead go to his siblings, Jake and Romy Reiner.Nick’s attorneys have pushe back, arguing that the funds were owed to him years before his parents were killed and therefore should not be subject to the statute. The dispute has also affected Nick’s efforts to hire private criminal defense counsel. His former attorney, Alan Jackson, withdrew from the murder case in January, leaving Nick represented by Los Angeles county public defender Kimberly Greene. The larger dispute over the trust funds remains unresolved.Nick has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the December 2025 stabbing deaths of his parents at their Brentwood home.He remains behind bars without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted. I haven’t,” Ortega shared during an appearance on Josh Horowitz’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, released on Thursday.“But what I’m meant to do will come and find me,” she continued. “I think after ‘Wednesday,’ I’ll probably be off the TV for a while.” Ortega noted that she’d had “many years doing that.”“I was bouncing from show to show as a kid, this to this, and I want to leave time for new things,” Ortega, now 24, explained. I just said it like that,” Wang told ABC 7 of the simple request.“And he stepped aside. The door opened. I was pushed so hard I flew out of the train,” he recalled of the vicious attack that broke several of his bones.Dr. C.G. Wang needed a hip replacement after he was thrown off a subway in Midtown. ABC7“I landed on my hip first. Then my shoulder, next. Then my head, next. Boom, boom, boom.”Wang, who had even been to a hospital before in his life, was taken by EMS to NYU Langone Tisch Hospital in stable condition, cops confirmed as they appealed for help finding the cruel pusher.Wang was so badly injured he als needed a hip replacement, he said. The suspect, who fled the scene in an unknown direction, appeared in a black jacket and a black baseball cap in a surveillance photo published by the NYPD on Wednesday, three weeks after the attack. He appeared to be roughly 40 to 50 years old and of medium build.Police released a photo of the shoving suspect on Wednesday, three weeks after the attack. DCPI“Who does this?” the professor’s son, Juin Wang, asked. “You know, who, who, who would shove a 90-year-old, frail, visually impaired man?” Wang recalled the train being fairly empty when he asked the man to move around 1 p.m. on Oct. 6 so he could get off at the exact door he knew would open in front of the escalator after making the trip thousands of times before.Despite his age, Wang was still living independently and had been regularly commuting to an office to conduct research and write before the attack. The professor was shoved around 1 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the Lexington Avenue-53rd Street station. Super Typhoon Champi Halts Taiwan: Flights Canceled, Markets Shut Amid El Niño Fury

Updated 14:39 23 Oct 2026 GMT+1Published 11:21 23 Oct 2026 GMT+1One person has died from being swept away by waves, while the storm has also injured 171 people and forced 1,000 others to evacuateTaiwan has been brought to a near standstill as Typhoon Champi, one of the most powerful storms in the Pacific this year, has devastated the island.Hundreds of flights in East Asia have been cancelled on Friday (23 October), due to wind gusts of 191km/h (119mph) with 90cm (35in) of rain forecasted to last until Saturday evening.Officials say one person has died from being swept away by waves, while the storm has also injured 171 people and forced 1,000 others to evacuate.Taiwan’s $5tn (£3.7tn) financial markets, schools and government offices have been forced to shut across almost the entire island, with a population of 23 million people.AdvertChampi, which reached super typhoon status earlier this week, recorded maximum sustained winds of 298km/h (185mph) at its peak, equivalent to a Category 5 hurricane.Sandbags and flood barriers have been placed outside buildings as Typhoon Champi approaches Taiwan (I-Hwa Cheng / AFP via Getty Images)It has been fuelled by a Super El Niño, which happens when normal, east-to-west trade winds weaken or reverse, causing warm water to pool along the Americas and disrupt global weather, often causing heavy rains in some regions and severe droughts in others. While there have been only a handful of these cases since 1950, the World Meteorological Organization said this El Niño is likely to strengthen over the rest of 2026, driving more extreme weather around much of the globe.“El Niño is the main driver,” said James Caron, director of meteorological operations for North America and Asia, at Atmospheric G2 told Bloomberg.“The biggest threat is extreme rain over northern and northeastern Taiwan.”Fishing boats are moored at a fishing harbour as Typhoon Champi approaches Taiwan (I-Hwa Cheng / AFP via Getty Images)“In late October the northeast monsoon is already in place, and a typhoon passing nearby pulls that flow into the island’s terrain,” he said, adding that it could potentially cause as much as 46cm (18in) over greater Taipei, risking catastrophic flash floods and landslides.CWA forecaster Liu Pei-teng told Reuters that landfall could not be ruled out if it ‘stalls, loops, or wobbles from side to side’.“The storm's wind radius is quite large, among the bigger ones in recent years," Liu said.“If the storm slows down, the strong winds will affect Taiwan for longer.”Lee Ming-chen, head of the port town of Suao noted that ‘when necessary, the military will come in to help people, including using amphibious vehicles for evacuations or disaster relief’.Hundreds of flights have been cancelled (Yasin Demirci/Anadolu via Getty Images)In Japan's southern Okinawa prefecture, approximately 8,400 households experienced power outages as the storm approached. The Philippines also suffered severe weather, particularly in the northern Batanes islands, where enormous waves struck coastal communities and roads were closed.Weather agencies predicted Champi would pass close to Taiwan's northeastern coastline before moving towards Japan's Okinawa islands and eventually curving northeast towards mainland Japan. However, meteorologists warned that unpredictable movements could still bring the storm directly over Taiwan.Heavy rainfall was expected to peak on Saturday morning, with dangerous conditions continuing into the evening.Featured Image Credit: Gallo Images/Orbital Horizon/Copernicus Sentinel Data 2026Topics: Weather, World News

Olivier Martinez Accuses Halle Berry of Abuse Despite Past Denial

Halle Berry’s ex-husband Olivier Martinez accused the actress of abuse despite being confronted with his own previous sworn statement denying any history of domestic violence between the former couple. The French actor was grilled by Berry’s attorney, Marina Beck, during cross-examination at Los Angeles Superior Court Thursday, marking the fourth consecutive day of proceedings in their ongoing custody dispute and domestic violence restraining order hearing.Beck questioned Martinez, 60, about allegations that the “Monster’s Ball” actress, 60, had abused him over the course of their relationship, including incidents he claimed dated back a decade.Halle Berry seen arriving for day four of her ongoing custody dispute and domestic violence restraining order hearing.

I just was tired of it, and I wanted to stop,” he continued. “I was delaying my maturation by drinking, and I had a lot of catching up to do, just realizing how selfish it made me.”Goodman (pictured above in a portrait taken at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival) said he decided to get sober because he was “really immature” and drinking only “sustained that immaturity.” WireImage“I got sick and tired or being sick and tired,” Goodman (seen above at the world premiere of “Pope Joan” in 2009) said, adding, “I was delaying my maturation by drinking, and I had a lot of catching up to do, just realizing how selfish it made me.” Getty ImagesThe “Roseanne” alum said he had been “overlooking real life,” adding that it was “great to see there was a life where [he] didn’t have to use anything to enjoy it.”Goodman underwent stomach surgery to address his weight gain after giving up alcohol, but the procedure led to other health struggles.“I also turned anemic and lost a layer of fat under my skin, and I’m cold all the time,” he said.Goodman (pictured above in Season 5 of “Roseanne”) said he had been “overlooking real life,” adding that it was “great to see there was a life where [he] didn’t have to use anything to enjoy it.” Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty ImagesGoodman (seen above at the London premiere of “Digger” last month) underwent stomach surgery to address his weight gain after giving up alcohol, but the procedure led to other health struggles, including anemia. Dan Aykroyd's Real-Life Ghostbuster Legacy: Great-Grandfather's Seance Transcripts Revealed

Dan Aykroyd's Real-Life Ghostbuster Legacy: Great-Grandfather's Seance Transcripts Revealed

Published 01:27 22 Oct 2026 GMT+1Dan Aykroyd has revealed the incredible family history that helped inspire him to write GhostbustersGhostbusters’ star Dan Aykroyd has revealed that his great-grandfather was a real-life ghostbuster and has the seance transcripts to prove it.The 74–year-old actor and comedian shot to fame as one of the original cast members on Saturday Night Live at its launch back in 1975.He later went on to star in a slew of hit comedies, including The Blues Brothers, Conheads, and Nothing but Trouble. But to many of us he’s best-known for playing Dr. Raymond ‘Ray’ Stantz in Ghostbusters, which he also co-wrote alongside Harold Ramis, who played Peter Venkman.AdvertAykroyd first played Ray in the original Ghostbusters flick in 1984 and the sequel - Ghostbusters II - in 1989 and reprised the role for 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife and again in 2024’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. And it turns out that it was actually pretty spot on casting, as the legendary star has a real-life ghostbuster in his family.Dan Aykroyd revealed ghostbusting runs in the family (Eric Charbonneau/Getty Images for Sony)In a post on X, Aykroyd shared a snap of himself holding up a couple of bound manuscripts with the titles The Journals of a Kingston Spiritualist and Sitting for Materialisation as well as an old black and white photographer of a dapper looking gentleman dressed in a suit and tie and posing for the camera.Sharing the shots, Aykroyd revealed that the books were written by his great-grandfather, presumably the man in the black and white photo, and helped to inspire him to write Ghostbusters.“These are my great-grandfather Dr. Sam Aykroyd’s transcripts from the seances he hosted in the Old Farmhouse,” he shared.“It was the spirit of his work passed down through the generations that inspired my interests. He’s the original Ghostbuster.”Pretty cool, eh?Dr. Sam Aykroyd was a mystic, who had corresponded with Sherlock Holmes writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle on the subject of Spiritualism. And the interest in the unknown didn’t end with him, as Aykroyd has previously declared a ‘proud’ Spiritualist.“I am a Spiritualist, a proud wearer of the Spiritualist badge,” he is reported to have said.“Mediums and psychic research have gone on for many, many years ... Loads of people have seen spirits, heard a voice, or felt the cold temperature. I believe that they are between here and there, that they exist between the fourth and fifth dimensions, and that they visit us frequently.”As well as ghosts, he is interested in various other aspects of paranormal phenomenon including UFOs and aliens, and is a lifetime member of and official Hollywood consultant for the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).His interest in the supernatural and unexplained has led to him serving as the host of Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal from 1996 to 2000 and producing a one-off special titled Dan Aykroyd: Unplugged on UFOs.His dad, Peter Aykroyd, has also published a book titled A History of Ghosts, in which he detailed the family’s historical involvement with the Spiritualist movement. With such a long-line of ghostbusters and paranormal experts in the family, it’s little surprise that Aykroyd grew up to write Ghostbusters, isn’t it?Featured Image Credit: X/@dan_aykroydTopics: Celebrity, TV and Film
