As you can see, there’s many people out on the street here, and they’re all absolutely heartbroken. ‘But it goes beyond here as well. The wider community is absolutely devastated.

Bryan Cranston mourns Breaking Bad co-star RJ Mitte, who died at 34

Bryan Cranston (right) shared his shock and sadness online (Picture: AP) Bryan Cranston said he is in ‘deep despair’ following the death of his on-screen son and Breaking Bad co-star RJ Mitte. TMZ reported that the actor died by suicide in Texas on Monday, October 12, with police launching an investigation. ‘It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,’ his reps said. Mitte rose to fame in his role as Walter White Jr in the Emmy-winning series, and used his platform to advocate for disability rights from his experience of living with cerebral palsy. In an emotional Instagram post, Cranston said the pair had exchanged text messages in recent weeks and tried to arrange a catch-up. He wrote: ‘I’m in deep despair as I write this tonight. RJ Mitte, my sweet son on Breaking Bad, has died. The actor was only 34 years old (Picture: AMC) ‘I met him when he was only 14 years old, when he was cast as Walter White Jr., a part he played with such joy and enthusiasm. Born with Cerebral Palsy, he never – ever – allowed that challenge to be an excuse for anything. ‘He met the demanding shooting schedule head-on with great determination.’ He added: ‘Always listening to the advice that his TV parents (Anna Gunn and myself) gave him – but being a teenager, sometimes mischievously ignoring the counsel in order to learn the hard way… He was one of the stars of a hit TV show – but still a kid.’ Mitte, real name Roy Frank Mitte III, was an actor and producer who started his career in entertainment playing minor roles in sitcoms such as Everybody Hates Chris and Hannah Montana. He made a name for himself in 2008 after landing a lead role in hit crime series Breaking Bad, starring as the son of mild-mannered high school chemistry teacher Walter White, who transforms into a ruthless drug kingpin. Mitte’s cause of death is yet to be confirmed by the medical examiner (Picture: Getty Images) Mitte first appeared in the series aged 15 and had a recurring role until its conclusion in 2013, featuring alongside Hollywood stars such as Cranston and Aaron Paul, as well as Anna Gunn, Bob Odenkirk and Dean Norris. Norris, who played Mitte’s uncle and DEA agent Hank Schrader on Breaking Bad, described the actor as a kind of son to him in a tribute on his social media. ‘Oh my God! Was working (and) just found out about RJ. I am heartbroken,’ Norris wrote. ‘Though RJ didn’t play my TV son, I always looked out for him as a young kid on set. He was a sweetheart of a young man and will be greatly missed. This is so heartbreaking; I can’t believe it. Thinking of him and his family.’ Paul, who played drug user turned drug dealer Jesse Pinkman, said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter: ‘I am at a loss. I am heartbroken over this news. Michael Dell shares children’s thank-you notes after Susan is mocked over White House appearance

Published 04:12 13 Oct 2026 GMT+1He was joined by appalled X users and outraged prominent figures Michael Dell, founder of Dell Technologies has taken to social media in what appears to be a bid to defend his wife from internet trolls.Susan went viral after she appeared in a clip showing her in the Oval Office on October 7 with Donald Trump standing alongside her husband to comment on a $6.25 billion pledge they made towards helping 25 million children build a $250 financial foundation, the Daily Mail reported.Susan said, “To every child across the country, these accounts are for you. We believe in you.”Despite the generosity of the act, internet users were quick to seize on her appearance as an opportunity to mock her red dress and general look.AdvertConservative commentator Mike Cernovich summed up the controversy when he defended Susan on X, “The Dell family gave 7 billion dollars directly to American children.“And instead of gratitude, there's much discussion of a 62-year-old woman's looks.”The Dells met the President at the Oval Office (Photo by Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images)Michael Dell himself seems to have joined the defence of his wife by sharing posts online in support of her.One was from an X user called Feisty Floridan who said, “My grandson got 250 dollars in his Trump account from Susan Dell. Please leave that woman alone. Thank you Susan.”Michael Dell also shared a post by another X user called Wingfoot, who said, “It’s truly insane how evil and full of themselves people are.“I signed my kids up and wasn’t expecting to get anything as we live in a wealthy country and city.“Out of the blue $250 showed up from Dell for both of my boys. I will go out of my way to support them now, who else has”.Trump’s son Eric also took to X to defend Susan via a post, “People are awful. Susan and Michael Dell just put $6.25 billion into Trump Accounts for 25 million kids so they’ll have something waiting for them when they grow up—one of, if not the largest private donation in American History.“The response? Vicious attacks on her.“I’m tired of this nonsense. Very few people have done more for philanthropy. It’s disgusting and it has to stop.“Susan, on behalf of the overwhelming majority of people in this nation: Thank You!! You are incredible!”Michael Dell also shared some examples of the fan mail his family had received, which appeared to have been written by children. One message read: “Dear Dell Family, Thank you for the money in my Trump bank account. I'm very glad to be saving for my future.”Another wrote: “I'm grateful for the money you added to my Trump account, Thank you for helping me save for my future.”The couple’s donation has been paid into Trump Accounts, which also receive a $1,000 taxpayer-funded deposit for eligible children.” Capitalise Trump Accounts.“They’re putting up a lot of money,” said Trump in July, referring to the Dells’ contribution.Featured Image Credit: (Photo by Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images)Topics: Donald Trump, Social Media
