Why Yair Netanyahu's Urgent US Evacuation Is Raising Eyebrows

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s oldest son was urgently evacuated from the United States due to a threat against him — a week after the Israeli leader accused Iran of trying to assassinate one of his children.

Israel’s Shin Bet security agency confirmed there had been a “significant threat” to Yair Netanyahu, 35, without providing additional details.

It comes after Netanyahu appeared on Israeli TV last Monday, Aug. 24, and claimed Iran tried to “murder” one of his children.

“Iran targeted one of my sons. Iran tried to murder him, tried to murder one of my sons,” Netanyahu told  Channel 14 while pushing for greater protection measures.

The prime minister did not clarify which of his two sons had been targeted in the alleged plot.

Yair Netanyahu moved to Miami in 2023, where he has remained throughout most of Israel’s conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran.

Shin Bet granted extended protection services to Netanyahu’s wife, Sara, and their sons, Yair and Avner, beginning in July.

Yair Netanyahu, who has served as an unofficial adviser to his father and is known for defending his father online, has previously sparked controversy for his social media attacks.

In 2025, the 35-year-old accused podcaster Joe Rogan of amplifying antisemitism while refusing to host the Israeli prime minister on his popular show.

“He gave platform to every single neo Nazi antisemite on this plant (sic), but he refuse to have my father on his show, because he knows that he doesn’t stand a chance against him, and all those years of antisemitic propaganda will go to waste,” he wrote on X.

He took aim at Rogan after the podcaster gushed over scandal-ridden Hunter Biden, arguing he could be president.

“Great wake up call for conservatives to remember Joe Rogan is not a conservative,” he lamented.

Yair Netanyahu’s Facebook account was also slapped with a 24-hour ban in 2018 following a series of anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian posts.

“Do you know where there are no attacks, in Iceland and Japan. That’s because there are no Muslims,” he wrote in one post.

In another, he wrote: “There will never be peace with the monsters in human form known since 1964 as ‘Palestinians.’”
