B.J. Novak reveals unexpected issue with his 'Devil Wears Prada 2' role
B.J. Novak stars as Jay Ravitz in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” described as a “problem” for the “Runway enterprise” at the movie's premiere at Lincoln Center.
The Character Description
Novak agreed with Page Six’s suggestion of calling his character a “douchebag.” He humorously accepted the term while clarifying it was not his own choice of words.
The film sees Andy, played by Anne Hathaway, return to Runway magazine to assist her former boss, Miranda Priestly, amidst changes in the media landscape and with Emily Blunt's character heading a luxury brand.
On Playing Villainous Roles
Novak, aged 46, expressed uncertainty about why he is often cast in unlikeable roles. He joked that he simply goes where he's needed and appreciates the fun that comes with such characters.
He mentioned not being offended by this recurring casting and enjoys playing these types of roles.
Reflecting on Past Work
Known for his work on “The Office” as Ryan Howard, Novak found it surprising to look back at his younger self on the sitcom. He noted how being young gives confidence without concerns of imposter syndrome.
Novak also acknowledged a pop culture reference regarding his style at the premiere, showing appreciation for the comment.
