A Pennsylvania man was injured when a homemade pipe bomb he allegedly built exploded outside his home. The incident occurred in Salisbury Township, involving 51-year-old Travis Peachey.

According to reports, Peachey went to the hospital with injuries indicative of a bomb explosion, prompting an investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police. Investigators determined that the explosive device detonated at his residence.

Device Allegedly Built for Entertainment

Peachey admitted to assembling the pipe bomb intending to entertain guests. He initially placed it on a pile of wood outside a shed in his backyard but decided to retrieve it when he realized his guests were not coming. Efforts to disarm the device reportedly failed before it exploded.

The blast resulted in facial and eye injuries for Peachey, and hospital staff removed shrapnel from his head.

Family Inside Home During Blast

At the time of the explosion, Peachey's wife and their two children were inside the house. The incident posed a risk to others in proximity.

Consequently, Peachey is facing multiple charges, including two counts of endangering the welfare of children, risking catastrophe, possession of an explosive, three counts each of attempted aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

The case is still under review as authorities continue their investigation.
