Arkansas Woman Arrested Over Payroll Error: What Happened?
Rene Nichole Coleman was arrested after a payroll mistake at her former job left her with an overpayment of $19,388. The issue began when she was inadvertently paid $1,650 per hour instead of her usual $16.50 for a 12-hour shift.
Coleman Arrested After Payroll Mix-Up
Coleman, 50, was arrested in Jonesboro, Arkansas, months after being charged with felony theft involving more than $5,000 but less than $25,000. This charge followed a judge's determination of probable cause related to the alleged payroll error.
Company Demands Money Back As Dispute Escalates
The company attempted to recover the funds once they realized the mistake. However, when Coleman allegedly refused to return the money, they involved law enforcement by providing financial documents and emails to support their claim.
Missed Meeting Leads To Arrest And Court Date
Authorities issued a bench warrant for Coleman after she initially agreed but failed to meet with them. She was eventually taken into custody and booked into Craighead County Detention Center. Her bond is set at $15,000, and she's scheduled to appear in court on May 18.
