Tragic Chick-fil-A Shooting in New Jersey: One Dead, Several Injured
An investigation is underway after a shooting at a Chick-fil-A in Union, New Jersey, resulted in one death and several injuries on Saturday night. The incident occurred at the Route 22 location just before 9 p.m.
Shooting Details
The shooting reportedly began when a group of men entered the restaurant and opened fire. Six victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. A witness mentioned seeing a masked person running through the parking lot, followed by others.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have not identified any suspects or released information about the victims. Lauren Farinas from the Union County Prosecutor's Office stated that there is no immediate threat to the public and this does not appear to be a random act of violence.
"While no arrests have been made at this time, the investigation does not suggest this was a random act," Farinas said in a statement.
Governor's Response
Governor Mikie Sherrill expressed her condolences and support for those affected by the incident via an online statement. She assured continuous collaboration with local authorities as investigations proceed.
