Boy, 14, Arrested After Missing Girl Found Dead Behind Dirt Pile

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 14-year-old girl from Kansas, whose body was found behind a dirt pile. The victim, identified as Rubi Perez, was reported missing on April 8.

Discovery and Investigation

Rubi Perez went missing after leaving Holy Family School in Great Bend, Kansas. Despite multiple tips about her potential location, police could not find her initially. On April 9, her body was discovered behind a dirt pile on 17th Street Terrace.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and local police have conducted numerous interviews and executed search warrants. A teenage boy was identified as the suspect and is now held at Barton County Detention Center on a first-degree murder charge.

Community Reactions

Perez’s friends expressed their shock at the news of her death. Briley Ferguson said she was in disbelief when she heard the news. Bella Donna Werner, another friend, described Perez as kind and social.

The Center of Counseling & Consultation announced staff visits to Great Bend Middle School to offer support to students affected by the tragedy.
