Eric Dane's Advocacy and ALS Battle

Eric Dane's battle with ALS and his efforts as an advocate are highlighted in the upcoming documentary Ring Every Bell. The film will be screened in Washington D.C. next month.

The documentary follows Dane's journey to advocate for the reauthorization of the ACT for ALS bill, initially passed by President Joe Biden in 2021. This bill sets up grant programs for neurodegenerative diseases and is set to expire on September 30, 2026.

Efforts to Extend ACT for ALS

Dane recently participated in a meeting with Senator Lisa Murkowski and Representative Morgan Griffith to discuss extending the ACT for ALS bill. He emphasized the importance of reauthorizing and fully funding the bill to continue providing access to investigational therapies.

Dane was joined by fellow ALS advocate Dan Tate, Jr., who shared his positive experience with an investigational therapy that improved his condition significantly.

Dane's Personal Fight

Despite his diagnosis, Dane continued working and was actively involved in advocating for ALS research through partnerships like the Push for Progress initiative with I AM ALS. He visited Capitol Hill several times in 2025 to support the renewal of ACT For ALS.

The Grey’s Anatomy alum shared his personal battle publicly, expressing gratitude for his family and medical care, while continuing work on projects like Euphoria.

Eric Dane passed away earlier this year at age 53 but remained a passionate advocate until his final days, surrounded by family. His contributions toward spreading awareness about ALS are remembered fondly by those he leaves behind.
