A former North Carolina chief of police has been arrested and charged with raping a 16-year-old girl. William Chad Green is accused of committing the act on Friday, April 4.

Arrest Details

Green, 51, was taken into custody on Sunday, April 6, following the issuance of a warrant the previous day. He faces a charge of second-degree forcible rape and is currently held at Stanly County jail on a $500,000 bond.

The arrest warrant claims that the victim was either mentally incapacitated or physically helpless, and alleges that Green knew or should have known this.

Previous Employment

Green previously served as an officer with the Norwood Police Department from September 2008 to May 2010 and later as police chief from August 2014 to June 2015. He also worked with the Oakboro Police Department at some point in his career.

At this time, it is unclear if Green has made any pleas or retained an attorney to represent him regarding these charges.
