'Ketamine Queen' Jailed for Connection to Matthew Perry's Death
The death of actor Matthew Perry in October 2023, initially ruled an accident due to drowning and the effects of ketamine, has led to multiple investigations and charges involving ketamine distribution. Suspects included doctors and acquaintances allegedly involved in providing the substance.
Initial Investigations
Two months after Perry's passing, a toxicology report revealed his death resulted from "the acute effects of ketamine." The Los Angeles Police Department launched an investigation into how Perry acquired the drug. By May 2024, they confirmed their probe into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Legal Developments
In August 2024, five individuals were charged with federal offenses related to distributing ketamine. This included Dr. Salvador Plasencia and Jasveen Sangha, also known as the "Ketamine Queen." Charges included conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death.
Sangha pleaded guilty to several charges, including distribution resulting in Perry’s death. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison in April 2026. Plasencia also reached a plea deal and faced up to 40 years in prison.
