Inside Rex Heuermann's Family: Who Are the Kids of the Suspected Serial Killer?

Share Post

Rex Heuermann, suspected of being the Long Island serial killer, was arrested in 2023 for the murders of seven women. He pleaded not guilty but later admitted guilt in 2026 for these and one additional murder.

The Arrest

Heuermann was taken into custody in July 2023 after remains were found in burlap sacks along New York's Ocean Parkway. Known as the Gilgo Beach case, it involves a longstanding investigation since the 1990s.

At the time of his arrest, Heuermann lived in Massapequa Park with his estranged wife and children. A note requesting privacy was posted on their home's door following further charges in June.

Family Situation

Heuermann's ex-wife, Asa Ellerup, filed for divorce days after his arrest. She stated she would withhold judgment until all evidence is reviewed despite believing he couldn't commit such crimes. Authorities confirmed she wasn't living with him during Jessica Taylor's murder.

Their divorce was uncontested and finalized by March 2025.

Children

Heuermann and Ellerup have two adult children, Victoria and Christopher. After their father's arrest, both hired legal representation to assert their innocence and involvement only through familial relation to Heuermann.
