UCLA Women's Basketball Team's Response to Trump Call Query Sparks Laughter

Share Post

The UCLA Bruins women's basketball team, recent national champions, have not received a congratulatory call from President Donald Trump. On their media tour, they appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where the host inquired about the expected call.

No Call from the White House

During the show, Kiki Rice confirmed that neither she nor her teammates had heard from Trump. The players laughed at the suggestion of receiving a call. Traditionally, championship teams receive a congratulatory phone call and an invitation to the White House.

Recent Championship Win

UCLA won their first NCAA championship by defeating South Carolina 79-51. Lauren Betts was named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four for her performance in the game.

Former President Barack Obama congratulated UCLA on social media but had originally picked another team in his tournament bracket predictions.

Kimmel's Comments and Previous Sports Controversy

On Kimmel's show, jokes were made about bringing a fake trophy if invited to the White House. Trump faced criticism previously when he invited only the men's hockey team to the White House after both U.S. hockey teams won gold in Italy during the 2026 Olympics.
