Matthew McConaughey's Teen Acne Horror Stories: 'Blistering Geysers of Pus'

Share Post

Before Matthew McConaughey became famous in Hollywood, he struggled with severe acne caused by a facial product called Oil of Mink, sold by his mother. Despite worsening breakouts, he followed her advice and continued using the product.

After 12 days of application, his acne worsened, and his mother sought help from her boss, Elaine, who reassured him that the product was purging impurities from his skin. Despite the negative effects, McConaughey persisted with the product.

Eventually, his condition became severe, leading him to seek medical help from a dermatologist. The dermatologist revealed that the product had blocked his pores, causing severe nodular acne and potential scarring.

McConaughey was prescribed Accutane to treat his acne, which led to various side effects like dry skin, peeling lips, and hair loss. His father suggested legal action against Oil of Mink, but a surprising turn of events during a deposition ended the case.

After two years of treatment, McConaughey's acne cleared up, and he reflected on the legal battle that never happened due to a revealing moment during the deposition.
