The 2026 Winter Olympics opened with high energy, featuring Mariah Carey's performance at the kickoff ceremonies, which received enthusiastic reviews.

In December, it was announced that Mariah Carey, along with other artists like Andrea Bocelli and Lang Lang, would perform at the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics. Mariah's performance, including singing in Italian, left audiences impressed.

During the ceremony, Mariah showcased her vocal talents by singing in Italian and later in English. Her rendition of Nel Blu Dipinto di Blu impressed many with her diction and emotional performance.

Creative director Marco Balich had hinted in January that Mariah might perform in Italian at the event, which turned out to be true. While this was her first official Olympic performance, Mariah has been associated with the Olympics before, with her song 100% featured on Team USA's official soundtrack for the 2010 Olympics.

Aside from her musical talents, Mariah Carey also made headlines in December when she wore a butterfly belt in Aspen, Colorado. The Milan-Cortina Olympics will continue until February 22.
