Frozen iguanas in Florida are being gathered and transformed into a trending pizza, as shown in a video.
A new specialty pizza called “The Everglades” featuring iguana meat as the main protein is gaining popularity at a North Palm Beach pizza spot, Bucks Coal Fired.
The idea for this unique pizza came about after a cold snap in Florida caused iguanas to become cold-stunned and fall from trees due to the drop in temperatures.
Local trapper Ryan Izquierdo collected over 90 iguanas during this period and collaborated with Bucks Coal Fired to create the pizza, using the animal's legs and tail as toppings.
The iguana meat was sanitized and added to the pizza along with other ingredients like olive oil, parmesan, ranch, bacon, and venison.
Despite some people finding the concept gross, others found the taste of the iguana meat comparable to frog legs, describing it as slightly sweet and unique.
